A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 1028

“This is amazing! I can’t believe you’ve forgotten him—it’s the best thing ever!”

“Now you can finally start over, no more wasting your love on someone who’ll never love you back!”

“This is fantastic news!” Portia was absolutely beaming with excitement.

Calliope walked over and gently tapped Portia’s shoulder, an amused smile tugging at her lips. “Mavis is just pretending.”

She glanced toward Mavis as she spoke.

Mavis flashed Calliope a knowing smile. “I figured I wouldn’t be able to fool you.”

The moment Calliope began talking sense to Uriah, Mavis had a hunch that Callie must have already seen through her act.

“What?!” Portia gasped.

“Shh!” Calliope put a finger to her lips. “Uriah hasn’t left yet—keep your voice down!”

“Wait… Mavis, you didn’t actually forget about Uriah? You faked the amnesia?” Portia stared at her, wide-eyed in disbelief.

Mavis nodded. “It’s the only way to really put things behind me. I needed to make a clean break, for him and for myself—so he’d stop trying, and I could finally move on.”

“That makes so much more sense—I was wondering how you could remember us, but not him,” Portia said with a huge sigh of relief. “I was seriously worried you’d hit your head so hard you forgot everything! But this… this is so much better.”

“But, Callie, how did you figure it out?” Portia pouted, a little wounded. “I had no clue at all.”

Portia insisted, “Make yourself at home, okay? I can’t cook to save my life—you know that. But our housekeeper’s food is amazing, so you’ll eat well. Just stay at my place!”

She gave Mavis an earnest, hopeful look. “And don’t worry about feeling awkward—honestly, my family’s hardly ever there during the day.”

Mavis nodded—she didn’t want to turn down Portia’s kindness. “Alright, I’ll stay at your place for a few days. Just let your parents know, if it’s not too much trouble.”

“My parents will be over the moon! They adore you,” Portia said with a smile. “Honestly, they like you and Callie more than me! They’re always going on about how you two have your lives together while I’m just the family parasite, living off them!”

“They’re happy to have you as their little freeloader,” Calliope teased.

Portia grinned, “I know! Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to embrace the freeloader life so shamelessly!”
