A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 1042

“What did that guy do to you? Did he make you upset?”

Julius rolled up his sleeves, looking ready to throw hands, fury written all over his face. The fact that he was still in his period costume only made the display unintentionally hilarious.

“Julius, relax. I’m just asking hypothetically.” Calliope hastened to reassure him. “He hasn’t done anything. If we ever got divorced, it would be because I wanted out, not because he mistreated me.”

“You all know me—I’ve never been one for long-term things. I get bored pretty quickly with anything after a while. I crave new experiences!”

“It’s only natural for things to lose their thrill after you’ve been married for a bit.”

Julius shot her a dubious glance. “After a while? You two haven’t exactly reached the ‘old married couple’ stage yet.”

“I’m just saying, what if one day I get tired of him and want a divorce? Would you guys mind having a divorcée for a sister?” Calliope asked, a wry smile tugging at her lips as she looked Julius straight in the eye.

“No way!”

Julius scowled. “Divorced or not, you’ll always be our sister. Why would we ever judge you?”

“Don’t go overthinking things, you silly girl.”

“To us, you’re irreplaceable—no one’s abandoning you.”

“We might worry about people hurting you, sure, but we’d never shun you. Even if you gave up on us, we’d never give up on you!” Julius finished, exasperated.

Calliope relaxed into a smile. “Good. That’s all I needed to hear.”

Calliope froze. Sitting next to Julius, was she about to become tomorrow’s headline? Maybe she should change seats…

While she was mulling it over, she looked up and caught sight of Linnea, the lead actress, not far away.

Linnea was staring right at her, and not with any hint of friendliness.

Calliope raised an eyebrow.

Meanwhile, Linnea glared at her provocatively, coldness flashing in her eyes. “Look at Calliope, acting like she’s somebody just because she’s the screenwriter—flirting with two handsome actors at once. Does she seriously think she’s so important just because she wrote the script?” Linnea sneered, popping a piece of fruit into her mouth and muttering to her assistant, Sylvia.

“Um… I thought Julius and Ulysses went over to her on their own?” Sylvia said, looking puzzled.
