“She was in the wrong, so she deserves to be punished and to apologize,” Calliope said with a shrug. “But if she’s already accepted your punishment, then let’s just leave it at that.”
Jett looked at his daughter with surprise. “Callie, you’re such a good person. Even though we weren’t there to raise you, your grandfather did an incredible job. It’s a shame he’s no longer with us. I would have loved to thank him properly.”
“And your brothers and friends,” he continued, his voice emotional. “I heard your brothers took great care of you. Would they be willing to become my godsons? I want to thank them and show my gratitude.”
Jett was visibly moved. He wanted to shower everyone who had ever cared for Calliope with gifts and appreciation. He was bursting with pride and couldn't wait for the whole world to know about his brilliant, talented daughter.
Calliope considered his words for a moment. “If you treat me well, my brothers would probably be happy to,” she said thoughtfully. “As for my grandfather, you won’t be able to meet him, but I’m sure he would be overjoyed to know my birth parents have finally found me.”
