A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 995

Watching from the sidelines, Damien finally began to grasp what was happening.

Black Spider wasn’t just one person—there were two distinct personalities living inside him, switching back and forth with a starkness that was almost frightening.

A moment ago, he’d been all lethal menace, cold and cruel. Now, though, his whole demeanor was gentler, even a little endearing. The face hadn’t changed, but the difference was impossible to miss—so striking, it left Damien at a loss for words.

After a while, Damien lowered his voice and asked, “So… does he have dissociative identity disorder?”

Calliope nodded. “He has multiple personalities. Jasper, the one you saw before, is his second—and he’s definitely the more dangerous one. There are other personalities, too, each with their own quirks. I tried some alternative therapy in the past. It worked for a while—they went quiet for some time—but eventually, the others surfaced again. His case is unusually complex, so he’s never been fully cured.”

Black Spider, standing nearby, offered Calliope a shy, apologetic smile. “I’m sorry for causing you so much trouble,” he said quietly.

Calliope shook her head. “It’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself. This whole thing was just an accident. I’m glad you’re back, but honestly, it seems your condition is worse than before. Has Jasper gotten stronger?”

He nodded. “He has. The others barely appear anymore, but Jasper comes out a lot. I usually have no memory of anything he does. I have to rely on my people to fill in the gaps after the fact.” He rubbed his brow, frustration etched across his features. “I wish I could control it. But I can’t.”

“Do you know what triggers him?” Calliope asked gently.

“Oh! Of course—I’m really sorry about that!” Black Spider said quickly. “He must have drugged you to make you put them on. Let me have someone show you where you can change back into your own clothes.” He immediately called over an attendant to escort Nigel out.

Nigel looked like he wanted to curse out the whole room but kept quiet as he left, his entourage trailing after him to change.

Meanwhile, Calliope sat down with Black Spider, trying to get a clearer picture of his recent episodes while she quietly considered possible treatment options.

“Maybe you’d better tie me up,” Black Spider suggested. “I’m barely in control right now—a switch could happen at any moment. And Jasper’s good at pretending. He might try to act like me, just to get close and hurt you.”
