A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo) novel Chapter 262

Sophie had neither the background nor the ability—she was nowhere near qualified to be Janet's daughter-in-law.

Benson's lifeless eyes suddenly flickered with hope.

Clinging desperately to denial, he muttered like a drowning man grasping at straws, "Yes… That must be it… She's lying. She's trying to drive a wedge between me and Cee.

"There's no pregnancy. It's all fake… It has to be!"

Seeing Benson latch onto this idea, Janet immediately felt reassured. The guilt that had been gnawing at her disappeared in an instant.

"Exactly! Women like her will do anything to trap a rich man. Just because she claims she's pregnant, we're supposed to take her word for it? If that's the case, then I must be the queen of the world!"

As Janet's exaggerations became more absurd, Edward rolled his eyes and looked away.

Sierra, on the other hand, remained composed, her brows slightly furrowed.

"Benson, you're a man. Take responsibility. If Sophie really is pregnant and one day shows up at your door with a child, things will only become more humiliating."

Following her logic, Edward's expression darkened. He jabbed a finger at Benson and ordered sternly, "Call that woman over. If she's truly pregnant, you must take responsibility!"

Benson's pulse pounded violently in his ears. His fingers clenched around his phone beneath his shirt, yet he remained frozen.

He didn't want to make this call.

He didn't want Sophie setting foot inside the Gray residence.

Because deep down, he had a terrible premonition—if Sophie appeared today, it would mean the end of his chances with Sierra.

However, his silence did nothing to weaken Edward's determination. "If he won't make the call, then Sierra, you do it."

Sierra shot Benson a brief glance before pulling out her phone and dialing a number she had never contacted before.

"Beep… Beep… Beep…"

Benson's entire body stiffened, his eyes locked onto Sierra, filled with a desperation he himself didn't even realize.

Meanwhile, Janet seized the moment while Edward was distracted. Leaning close to Benson, she lowered her voice and whispered, "Well? Is that little tramp actually pregnant?"

When Benson remained silent, she pressed on, "Listen to me—no matter what, you cannot admit it. If you do, your grandfather will force you to marry her."

Sophie froze, momentarily unable to process the words.

"Benson and Mrs. Gray are here as well," Sierra added, casting a glance in their direction.

Sophie had spent countless nights imagining how things would unfold after she got pregnant.

She had fantasized about Benson realizing his mistake, breaking things off with Sierra, and finally giving her the place she deserved at his side.

She had also prepared for the worst—that Benson would refuse to acknowledge the child, forcing her to storm into his office and demand justice.

She had even thought about showing up at the Gray residence after giving birth, forcing Benson to face his responsibilities.

However, she had never once expected Sierra to be the one personally inviting her over.

Sophie was a clever woman.

The moment Sierra mentioned that Benson and Janet were present, she understood everything at once—Benson had no intention of taking responsibility.
