The King Of Warriors novel (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6569

Jared drew his gaze back to the middle-aged man.

"Talk."

"Swear you won't kill me first!"

A flicker of cunning passed through the middle-aged man's eyes.

"Swear it on the heart of the Way. Otherwise, I'd rather die than say a word."

Jared was silent for a beat.

Then he smiled.

It was a cold smile.

Cold enough that the middle-aged man felt it run through him from head to foot.

"You really think you're in any position to bargain with me?"

Jared's voice was colder than the ice around them.

"Right now, you have two choices. You talk, and I give you a quick death. Or you don't, and I carve the flesh off your body piece by piece, then burn you slowly with chaos-flame until you learn what it means to beg for death and not get it."

The last color drained from the middle-aged man's face.

He knew Jared wasn't bluffing.

A man who could slaughter more than a dozen Hall of Radiance cultivators without changing expression would absolutely do it.

"I'll talk... I'll talk..."

The words seemed to force their way out from between his teeth.

"The Heart of the Abyss may be the Frost Deity Branch's relic, but it's also the key to opening the Frost God Palace's high sanctuary in the Twentieth Firmament. Inside that high sanctuary is the Frost God's progenitor's full inheritance, sealed away.

"Whoever gets the Frost God's progenitor's full inheritance can take control of the entire Frost Deity Branch. The Hall of Radiance has been searching for the Heart of the Abyss all this time for one reason—to open the Frost God Palace's high sanctuary in the Twentieth Firmament and seize that inheritance."

The Twentieth Firmament.

The Frost God Palace's high sanctuary.

The Frost God's progenitor's full inheritance.

The words hit Jared's mind like successive blasts.

He turned to look at Gwendolyn.

Her expression had gone painfully complicated. Shock, excitement, disbelief—emotion after emotion surged through her eyes.

If the Heart of the Abyss really was the key to the Frost God Palace's high sanctuary in the Twentieth Firmament, then the hope of the Frost Deity Branch's revival had never been limited to the Eighteenth Firmament.

It was in the Twentieth Firmament—the very place where the celestials' high sanctuary stood.

What did that mean?

It meant the Frost Deity Branch had never truly been wiped out. Their high sanctuary in the Twentieth Firmament still held the progenitor's full inheritance under seal, and if they could reclaim it, the Frost Deity Branch could rise again.

"That's everything?" Jared asked, looking back at the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man nodded frantically.

"That's all. That's all. You can let me go now, right?"

Jared didn't answer.

He only raised the Dragonslayer Sword again.

"You... you can't do this! You gave your word!" The middle-aged man stumbled back in terror, but the rock wall of the passage was right behind him.

He had nowhere left to go.

"When did I ever say I was letting you leave?"

Jared’s voice was so calm it was terrifying.

“I only said this—talk, and I’ll give you a quick death.” His gaze never shifted. “I keep my word.”

A thread of violet light shot from the tip of the Dragonslayer Sword, silent and fast as lightning.

The middle-aged man tried to dodge, but it was already too late.

The violet streak was too fast. Before his body could even react, it punched straight through his forehead.

His body went rigid for a heartbeat.

His eyes bulged wide, his mouth falling open as if he wanted to say something, but nothing came out.

Golden blood seeped slowly from the wound in his forehead, ran down the bridge of his nose, then traced his cheek before dripping to the ice.

His body tipped backward and hit the frozen ground with a dull, heavy thud.

The golden sceptre slipped from his hand and clattered away across the ice.
