"Envoy Gareth, are you certain?" Aurelius asked.
A cold curve touched Gareth's mouth.
"I'm Golden Immortal Level Six. Even if Jared broke through, he's only Golden Immortal Level One at most. A mere whelp at Golden Immortal Level One? I could crush him with one hand."
Golden Immortal Level Six against Golden Immortal Level One was, on the surface, absolute domination.
But Jared was no ordinary Golden Immortal Level One.
Aurelius opened his mouth, wanting to say something.
In the end, he said nothing.
He needed the Abyssal Exchange.
Without it, he couldn't deal with Jared on his own.
Three hundred disciples from Ashford Hollow, plus a Jared strong enough to kill a Golden Immortal Realm Level Five expert—there was no way the Ember God Palace could withstand that.
"Fine." Aurelius nodded. "I accept. The Abyssal Exchange and the Ember God Palace will join forces and kill Jared."
Gareth nodded, satisfied.
"Then we wait.
We wait for Jared to walk right into our hands."

Meanwhile, Ashford Hollow.
Inside the Pentacarna Tower, Jared opened his eyes.
A sharp light flashed through his violet eyes.
Nearly ten years had passed inside the tower. Outside, it had been almost forty days.
His cultivation had risen from True Immortal Realm Level Nine to Golden Immortal Level One. The chaotic force within him was several times more condensed than before, and the seed of the laws of space had already begun to sprout inside his body.
It was time to come out of seclusion.
Jared got to his feet and rolled his shoulders, loosening up after the long seclusion. A soft series of pops ran through his bones.
He put away the Pentacarna Tower and stepped out.
Moonlight washed over the Cliff of Contemplation, silver and cold, draping the entire cliff-top in a pale glow.
A night wind came down from the north, edged with a chill. It was frost energy spilling out from the Northern Abyss Frost Chasm—still sharp enough to feel even from thousands of miles away.
At the edge of the Cliff of Contemplation, Alaric sat cross-legged. His white hair and beard stirred in the wind, and his blue-green robes of the Way caught a faint sheen under the moon.
His eyes were closed, as if he were deep in meditation, but Jared knew better. Alaric’s spirit sense had blanketed the entire cliff the whole time. Nothing that moved up here could have escaped him.
The instant he sensed Jared’s aura, Alaric opened his eyes and turned.
His gaze landed on Jared, and shock flashed through those old eyes.
Golden Immortal Level One.
Forty days ago, when Jared entered the Pentacarna Tower, he had only been True Immortal Realm Level Nine.
Forty days later, he walked out as Golden Immortal Level One.
In forty days, he had crossed an entire major realm.
That kind of cultivation speed had never appeared in the history of the Aureate Way.
Not even its forebears had advanced that fast.
"Mr. Chance, you..." Alaric’s voice came out rough.
Jared nodded. "Golden Immortal Level One. Thank you for standing guard, Master."
Alaric rose and walked over, giving Jared a long look from head to toe.
He could feel it clearly. The chaotic force inside Jared was several times stronger than before—deep as an abyss, heavy as a mountain. Even Alaric, at Golden Immortal Realm Level Five, felt a faint pressure from it.
"Mr. Chance, where does that put your combat strength now?" Alaric asked.
Jared fell silent for a moment, violet eyes dark with thought.
"Anyone below Golden Immortal Level Six dies in one sword strike. Above Golden Immortal Level Six..." He paused. "I haven't fought one yet, so I don't know."
Alaric’s mouth twitched.
Below Golden Immortal Level Six, one sword strike.
In the entire Eighteenth Firmament, only Jared would have said something like that.
"Where's Miss Frost?" Jared asked. "Has she come out of seclusion yet?"
Alaric nodded. "Miss Frost came out three days ago. She broke through to Golden Immortal Level Three. She's cultivating on the rear mountain now, waiting for you to emerge."
Golden Immortal Level Three.
The corner of Jared’s mouth lifted.
Gwendolyn hadn't let him down.
He turned and headed for the rear mountain.
The rear mountain was covered in lush green bamboo. A clear brook ran through it from the mountain above, splashing white against the pebbles.
