"Kid, you killed his father, and he still helped you."
Master Veridian chuckled. "That man is not half bad."
"Then go become sworn brothers with him," Jared said.
"No, thank you."
Master Veridian waved the idea away. "I am your bodyguard. If I become his sworn brother and he comes to kill you, whose side am I supposed to take?"
Jared looked at the stunned people around him and lowered his voice.
"Stop standing around. Have everyone clean the battlefield. We killed this many people. Their resources will not be small."
Caiden was the first to snap back to himself.
He wiped blood off his face and shouted to the demonic cultivators behind him, "Did you hear Mr. Chance? Move. Take anything useful. Pills, arcane implements, Storage Rings, spirit stones. Do not leave one thing behind."
Garrick also called to the Inferno Devil Ridge disciples, "Move quickly. Before the smell of blood draws too many demon beasts, pack up everything we can use."
The demonic cultivators had just survived a brutal fight.
Some were exhausted.
Some were covered in wounds.
But the word "spoils" lit every eye.
They began moving through the battlefield quickly and in order.
Storage Rings.
Storage Pouches.
Arcane implements.
Pill bottles.
Spirit stones.
Everything of value on the celestial and human cultivators was stripped clean.
Some searched bodies.
Some gathered broken weapons.
Some picked pill bottles out of pools of blood.
For a while, the battlefield looked less like a graveyard and more like a busy market.
Golden blood and dark-red blood ran under their feet, but no one cared.
These were cultivation resources.
These were survival.
These were power.
"Haha! This one had more than twenty Golden Immortal Level Seven pills on him."
"I found a good one too. This Storage Ring is stuffed with top-grade crystals."
"This celestial arcane implement still works. Repair the damaged part, and it will be a fine weapon."
Excited voices rose everywhere.
The fear and exhaustion from the fight seemed to fade under the thrill of harvest.
Nearly ten thousand demonic cultivators worked across the ice field for four hours and gathered all valuable resources at several temporary supply points.
Jared stood beside one pile and looked over the spoils stacked like small hills.
Crystals.
Pills.
Arcane implements.
Technique jade slips.
Spiritual materials.
All of them glowed with different colors under the moonlight, bright and tempting.
Caiden and Garrick walked over.
Both had joy on their faces.
Caiden made a rough count, and his voice could barely hide his excitement.
"Mr. Chance, this haul is enormous. Top-grade crystals alone number in the millions, and high-grade crystals are too many to count. There are at least tens of thousands of pills, more than a thousand arcane implements, and a number of celestial techniques and secret-art jade slips. These resources are enough for nearly ten thousand of us to cultivate for decades."
Jared nodded.
Satisfaction flashed in his violet eyes.
Caiden paused.
After a brief hesitation, he asked, "Mr. Chance, how should we divide them? You contributed greatly. How much do you think you should take?"
Jared looked at him, then at Garrick.
A faint smile appeared on his mouth.
He slowly lifted one hand and spread five fingers.
"Fifty percent."
Caiden and Garrick froze.
