"Mr. Sanders! Mr. Sanders..."
Tears of joy filled Jared's eyes when he saw Mr. Sanders suddenly appear. He threw his arms around the man and began to cry.
From where she lay among the shattered rocks, Gwendolyn stared wide-eyed at Mr. Sanders. Jared spoke of him often, yet she had never seen the man herself.
His arrival had caused no ripple that she could detect. To her senses, he might have been there all along.
"You're a grown man, yet you're still crying like this. Your woman is watching. Aren't you embarrassed?"
Mr. Sanders pushed Jared away as he spoke.
Jared wiped his tears and broke into a grin. Mr. Sanders was the only person before whom he ever allowed himself to appear so vulnerable.
"Gwendolyn, meet Mr. Sanders. He's the man I keep telling you about..."
Jared went to Gwendolyn, supported her weight, and brought her across the rubble.
She approached Mr. Sanders and bowed slightly. "It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Sanders..."
"There's no need for ceremony. Jared has a good eye. The women he chooses are all graceful and beautiful.
"But how many times have I reminded you to focus more on cultivation and stop chasing women all the time?
"How many women do you have already? You aren't planning to take these ladies as well, are you?"
Mr. Sanders glanced at Violet, then at the other six fairies still battling the celestial experts.
"Nothing like that. They're friends, that's all. I'll do my best to stop adding to the list, but what can I do when women insist on pursuing me?"
Jared protested.
"Conceited." Mr. Sanders rolled his eyes at him.
The man in white frowned as he studied Mr. Sanders. For the first time, his expression turned grave.
Mr. Sanders gave off no aura whatsoever.
To the stranger's senses, he was indistinguishable from a mortalβand no mortal had any business appearing in the Twentieth Firmament.
"Mr. Sanders, could you help the Seven Fairies?
"They only started fighting the celestials because they were trying to help me," Jared asked.
Mr. Sanders glanced into the void at the combatants.
Every figure flickered in and out of sight.
A battle between Grand Zenith Immortals alone could shake heaven and earth, let alone a melee involving more than a dozen of them.
"Who exactly are you? You dare meddle in the affairs of the celestialsβ"
Aureon saw that Mr. Sanders had appeared and was ignoring him, so he questioned the man coldly.
Apparently, he had not stopped to wonder why his hand had disappeared.
"Are you speaking to me?"
Mr. Sanders withdrew his gaze from the void and looked at Aureon.
That single glance made Aureon's body jerk.
He tried to answer, but green bile gushed from his open mouth. His body hit the ground with a heavy thud.
One look from Mr. Sanders had literally scared Aureon to death.
The celestial cultivators from the Celestial Emperor Palace stared in shock at Aureon's sudden collapse. One elder shouted, "What did you do to our Celestial Emperor?"
Mr. Sanders smiled faintly. He held two fingers together like a sword and gave them a casual sweep.
Whoosh!
