The King Of Warriors novel (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6760

"Elder."

Jared looked up at the elder. "How long would it take to reach the Void Sea?"

Understanding flickered in Elder Nether's blue eyes. "You intend to visit the Water Clan?"

"If that force came from them, I need to find its source before I can resolve the problem," Jared replied.

"The demonic soul deep in the fissure may also be connected to the Water Clan. If I fail to investigate, suppressing the nether energy now may only leave us with greater trouble later."

Elder Nether was silent for a long time.

His fingers tapped softly against his knees as he weighed the matter.

At last, he said, "The Void Sea is about three days from the Nether Abyss. Beyond the eighth and ninth levels lies an underground river that leads directly to the sea's edge. Follow it, and you will reach the boundary of Water Clan territory."

"An underground river?" Jared raised an eyebrow.

"The Ghost Clan's ancestors excavated it to maintain contact with the outside world," Elder Nether said.

"It has been abandoned for a long time, but the passage should remain open. If you mean to go, I can have Ghost Seven lead you to its entrance."

Jared rose and saluted him with cupped hands. "Thank you, Elder."

Elder Nether waved a hand, then studied Jared for a moment. "Young Jared, there is something I should tell you."

"I'm listening."

"Although the Water Clan lives deep within the Void Sea, its people do not welcome outsiders," Elder Nether warned in a grave rasp.

"They are gentle by nature and dislike conflict, but if anyone pushes them too far, they retaliate more ferociously than anyone else."

Jared nodded. "I will remember."

With that, Jared headed back through the entrance.

When he lifted the curtain, muted red light poured over his young yet composed face.

He gazed toward the faint dark waters in the depths of the Nether Abyss, and a spark passed through his violet eyes.

Gwendolyn was awake when he returned to their quarters.

Her ice-blue eyes looked especially bright beneath the red glow. "Did you visit Elder Nether?"

Jared nodded and briefly told her about the Water Clan. Gwendolyn furrowed her brow. "You mean... the force came from the Water Clan? And you're going to the Void Sea?"

"Yes. I intend to investigate."

Gwendolyn answered at once. "Then I will accompany you."

Jared regarded her for a moment, then accepted her decision. "Where is Old Veridian?"

"He took the young acolyte for a walk on the rope bridges. I heard the boy laughing a little while ago," Gwendolyn replied. "They should be back soon."

Sure enough, Master Veridian pulled the young acolyte through the curtain not long afterward.

One look at Jared's expression told the old man something was afoot. "Mr. Chance, you have the face of a man preparing for a long journey. Has something happened?"

Jared explained the situation once more.

Master Veridian's grin faded into seriousness as he listened. "The Void Sea? The Water Clan? Mr. Chance, none of that sounds right. If you're going, then naturally I'm coming. But the young acolyte..."

"He stays in the Nether Abyss," Jared decided.

"The Ghost Clan will look after him. Elder Nether promised to protect the boy for as long as we remain here."
