Chapter 460
THIRD POV
By the time they returned to the pack house, almost everyone was already awake.
The compound outside the main building was crowded with warriors, elders, servants, and restless pack members who had rushed out after hearing the alpha howl echo through Blood Crescent territory earlier
Fear and confusion lingered heavily in the atmosphere.
Whispers moved rapidly through the crowd.
Questions.
Speculations.
Panic.
Several wolves were still partially shifted from the sudden alert, while warriors remained armed near the gates.
Nobody truly understood what was happening yet.
And then Alexander walked in.
Immediately, silence began spreading through the compound.
Behind him, Roman was being dragged forward between two warriors.
Faye’s eyes widened the moment she saw him.
What was Roman doing there? Was he foolish enough to go out with the warriors on patrol at a
time like this?
Roman looked terrible.
His upper body was bare, streaked with dirt and sweat. His face was pale beneath the moonlight, while his entire body still looked weak and unstable.
The warriors holding him finally released him roughly near the center of the compound.
Roman dropped hard onto his knees.
Faye moved instantly.
“What the hell is going on?”

Chapter 460
Her voice cut sharply through the silence as she rushed forward.
She had barely slept properly after finally returning to bed earlier.
When the first howl echoed through the night, she had been so deep in sleep that she mistook it for part of a dream.
But the second howl-
That one woke her immediately.
And by the time she rushed out of the room, Cole had already been waiting near the main hall with warriors moving around.
He explained quickly that there might have been an intruder inside Blood Crescent territory.
An alpha.
Faye wanted to join the warriors in the woods.
But despite everything, Cole refused to let Faye leave the pack house.
That alone almost turned into a fight.
Faye had been furious.
She demanded to know where Alexander was.
Demanded to go meet him herself.
But Cole physically blocked her path every single time.
And unfortunately for her…
Cole wasn’t just Alexander’s Beta.
He was family.
Someone she respected deeply.
Which was the only reason she forced herself to stay behind instead of attacking him outright and running into the woods herself.
And now…
Now she was standing there, watching Roman get thrown to the ground like a criminal, and she didn’t even know what was going on.
Whatever patience she had left snapped instantly.

“What is wrong with you people?” Faye lashed out angrily as she stormed toward the warriors nearest to Roman.
Several warriors immediately stiffened.
One stepped forward instinctively.
Faye moved faster.
Pure anger flashed across her face as she prepared to go for him.
But suddenly, an arm wrapped firmly around her waist from behind.
Alexander,
He caught her just in time, pulling her back against him before things escalated.
“Faye.”
His voice came low and controlled near her ear.
But Faye was furious now.
She struggled against his hold immediately.
“What are you doing?” she snapped. “Why are they dragging him around like this?”
Roman remained silent on the ground.
Head lowered.
Breathing unevenly.
And somehow, that made the entire situation feel even worse
Before Faye could demand more answers, Alexander finally spoke.
“Talk.”

“What is this about?”
For a moment, Alexander simply stared at her.
Then finally, he answered calmly.
“The wolf that was howling in the woods…”
A brief pause followed.
“Was Roman,”
Faye blinked once.
Alexander’s expression remained serious, so she knew he meant it.
“He was the one behind it,” Alexander added.
There was silence.
Complete silence.
Faye stared at Alexander, then at Roman.
Then back at Alexander again.
“What?”
The word came out almost disbelieving.
That made no sense.
None.
Roman?
Roman was the wolf?
An alpha wolf?
Before anyone else could speak, one of the elders stepped forward sharply.
Mathias
His expression looked darker than ever now as he stared directly at Roman.
“I knew it,” he said coldly. “I said from the beginning this boy was trouble.”
Faye’s jaw tightened instantly.
Mathias ignored her completely.
Chapter 460
He pointed directly toward Roman now.
“Explain yourself,” he demanded harshly. “What exactly was your plan? Pretend to be some helpless, wolfless stray to gain sympathy and a position inside Blood Crescent?”
Roman remained silent.
Not even looking up.
Mathias scoffed bitterly.
“Of course.”
Then he turned toward Alexander.
“But some people never listen,” he continued. “Now look where we are. The evil has finally exposed
itself. I’m sure his soldiers have surrounded our territory by now.”
Several uneasy murmurs spread through the crowd immediately.
Faye felt anger rise again.
Mathias continued ruthlessly.
“What are we waiting for exactly? The boy is clearly a threat. Why bring him back into the pack
house at all?”
Before Faye could explode at him, Alexander spoke first.
“No one knows the truth yet.”
His voice remained calm.
“Roman will be given the chance to explain himself first.”
Faye looked at Alexander briefly before looking back at Roman again.
Roman still hadn’t defended himself once.
That unsettled her.
Because this wasn’t normal.
Roman usually tried to speak.
Tried to explain.
But tonight…
He looked completely disconnected from everything around him.
Faye stepped forward slightly.
“He’s clearly shaken,” she said firmly. “He should at least be allowed to cool off. Please. Ale
Her eyes moved briefly across the surrounding crowd.
Mathias looked almost offended by the suggestion.

Chapter 46
The reality remained the same:
The pack had heard an alpha howl inside Blood Crescent territory.
Then they found Roman in the woods immediately afterward.
And now Roman wasn’t even defending himself.
If Alexander did nothing, the pack would panic.
Alexander had responsibilities beyond emotion.
Beyond trust.
Beyond personal feelings.
He had to protect the interests of Blood Crescent first.
Even if that meant temporarily treating Roman as a potential threat.
The warriors stepped forward again.
Roman slowly pushed himself weakly to his feet this time.
