A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 467

Chapter 467

FAYE

By the time I got dressed and made my way toward Alexander’s office, the pack house already felt

different.

The kind of silence that settled over a place before something terrible was about to happen.

Or maybe before something irreversible.

But then, it had been feeling like that almost every day latelyso I assumed it was just me.

My boots echoed softly against the hallway floor as I walked, and for a second, I caught myself wondering if this was what people felt like before walking toward their execution.

Oddly enough, I wasn’t panicking.

The fear had burned through me hours ago.

What remained now was something colder.

Acceptance.

Not that I wanted to die.

But I had already accepted that surviving this would require me to walk directly into danger willingly.

And if this plan failed-

Then at least we had tried everything.

I reached Alexander’s office door and paused briefly before pushing it open.

Alexander immediately looked up.

The moment his eyes landed on me, he stood from behind the desk almost instantly.

For a second, neither of us spoke.

His gaze moved over me carefully instead.

I wore fitted black pants, a dark longsleeved top beneath my jacket, and heavy boots. My hair was tied back tightly into a ponytail to keep it away from my face.

Simple and practical.

I looked more like someone preparing for war.

Or maybe survivalbut I didn’t really care at this point.

I finally walked toward him slowly.

Alexander met me halfway.

The moment I got close enough, his hand immediately settled against my waist and pulled me toward

tim

Warm

Solid

I rested my hands lightly against his chest as he lowered his head slightly toward mine.

You’re ready,” he murmured quietly

I nodded once.

As ready as I can be.

His jaw tightened faintly at that

Then I watched the hesitation enter his expression again.

The same hesitation he had been fighting all morning.

Faye..he started quietly before exhaling slowly. Maybe you should let me ride with you.

I already knew this conversation was coming.

Honestly, I was surprised he had managed to hold himself back this long.

I shook my head immediately.

No.

Alexander’s brows pulled together slightly.

Faye-

No,I repeated more firmly this time. You know that’s not smart. It’s not going to go wellthat’s not the

plan.”

His expression hardened faintly, but he didn’t interrupt me.

If you go with me and somebody recognizes you, or you lose your temper over something someone says, everything falls apart immediately,I explained calmly. The entire point is making them believe I came

there desperate and alone.

Alexander remained silent.

Because he knew I was right.

If he appeared beside me too early, Stonevale would instantly become suspicious.

They would realize we were already anticipating something.

And that would ruin the entire plan before it even began.

Alexander arriving later with Blood Crescent warriors demanding my body.

That was supposed to be the shock

The surprise element.

The moment everything turned against Stonevale.

He inhaled slowly through his nose before finally nodding once.

I know.

I softened slightly at the look in his eyes.

Goddess! He hated this.

I could see it all over him.

Every instinct inside him probably screamed against letting me walk into unknown territory like this.

But he was still letting me go anyway.

Because he trusted me.

Because we had no better option.

Then suddenly his expression shifted slightly.

You’re not driving there alone.

I blinked.

Alexander-

That was a lastminute addition to the arrangement.

James is going with youhe’ll drive.

I immediately sighed.

Of course.

I should have known.

Alexander, I can handle myself.”

And James is still going,” he said.

The tone in his voice left absolutely no room for argument.

I stared at him for another second before finally shaking my head.

Honestly, this was probably the compromise he needed to stay sane.

So let it go.

Fine,I muttered.

His shoulders relaxed just slightly after that

Then his hands slid up my arms slowly before he leaned down and pressed his forehead briefly against

mine

The contact almost made my chest ache

You’re coming back to me,he said quietly

Not hopefully, and not fearfully either.

He said it like a fact

Like a promise he intended to force the universe itself to obey.

I smiled faintly despite myself.

Then I rose slightly and kissed him softly.

Alexander kissed me back immediately, one hand sliding firmly against the side of my neck for a brief second before he forced himself to pull away.

I could feel how much restraint that took from him.

From both of us.

Then I stepped back slowly.

Neither of us spoke again after that.

Because honestly-

What else was there left to say?

I turned and walked toward the office door.

And this time, Alexander didn’t stop me.

The walk downstairs felt strangely unreal.

Like my body was moving ahead while my mind lagged somewhere behind.

By the time I stepped outside into the compound, the early dawn air hit my skin sharply.

The vehicle was already parked outside waiting.

But James wasn’t there yet. He probably didn’t even know he was coming with me.

For a moment, I simply stood still.

Then slowly-

I turned.

My eyes lifted toward the massive structure of the pack house.

Chapter 462

Toward horne.

The sight hit differently now.

The stone walls.

The balconies.

The training grounds beyond.

I stood there quietly, taking it all in.

Memorizing it.

Because if this went wrong-

If Helen failed

If the binding ritual failed

If Stonevale succeeded

Then this might genuinely be the last time I ever saw this place.

The thought should have terrified me more than it did.

Instead, it just made my chest feel strangely heavy.

A voice suddenly interrupted my thoughts.

Luna.

I turned slightly.

James was approaching, already dressed and prepared.

Calm as always.

I’m ready if you are,” he said respectfully.

I looked at him for a second before nodding once.

I’m ready

At least I hoped I was.

I walked toward the vehicle before pulling the door open and climbing inside

A second later, James moved toward the driver’s side.

But before he entered-

Something made me look up.

And immediately, my breath caught faintly

Alexander stood above on one of the upper balconies overlooking the compound.

Watching uswatching me.

He wasn’t smiling.

Wasn’t trying to encourage me either.

And strangely, he didn’t look angry.

Didn’t look frustrated.

He simply looked still.

Like steel.

Cold control wrapped tightly around something dangerous underneath.

His eyes never left mine.

Not even as James entered the vehicle.

Not even as the engine started.

And not even when the gates finally opened and the car slowly drove out of the pack house.
