A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 500

Chapter 498

BLOOD CRESCENT

FAYE

Being back home felt different.

Of course, nothing had changedwe were only away for a few hours.

The walls were still the same.

The furniture was still where it had always been.

The scent of Blood Crescent still lingered comfortably throughout the house.

Everything was exactly as I left it.

And maybe that was why it felt so strange.

Because I wasn’t sure I had expected to see any of it again.

I stood near the bedroom window for a moment, watching the movement outside while sunlight

spilled across the floorboards.

The territory looked peaceful.

Normal.

Almost annoyingly normal.

Like the entire world had simply decided to keep moving while I was busy having the most

ridiculous experience of my life.

A small smile tugged at my lips.

Alexander had barely been back for an hour before duty dragged him away again.

Apparently, being Alpha didn’t stop just because everyone had almost lost their minds recently.

He had apologized before leaving.

I told him it was fine.

Because honestly?

It was.

For the first time in what felt like forever, I was perfectly content being left alone.

Chapter 498

I glanced down at my wrist again.

For probably the hundredth time.

My fingers traced the smooth skin there.

No mark.

Nothing.

I stared at it.

Then turned my wrist over.

Still nothing.

The sight continued to feel unreal.

For days, that mark had been a part of me.

Also, no pain.

No heat.

I rubbed the spot where the mark had been again.

Then laughed quietly to myself.

I really needed to stop checking.

But every time I looked and didn’t see it, I felt relieved all over again.

I moved toward the bed and sat down slowly.

The room was quiet.

No burning sensation.

No strange energy.

No pressure squeezing at the back of my mind.

Nothing.

Just peaceactual peace.

I closed my eyes.

And simply sat there.

Breathing, listening, feeling.

Chapter 408

Nothing hurt. Nothing felt wrong.

No rageno overwhelming emotions trying to tear me apart from the inside.

Just silence.

Beautiful silence.

For a moment, I simply enjoyed it.

Then I heard a voice.

We did it, didn’t we?

I nearly jumped off the bed.

My eyes flew open.

NOVA!

The laugh burst out of me before I could stop it.

I sat upright immediately.

Oh my God.

Excitement rushed through me so fast I almost felt ridiculous.

Nova’s laughter echoed through my mind.

Miss me?Nova said.

I shook my head.

How did I forget about you?I teased.

I hadn’t forgotten about her…. I thought she had been affected by the rituals, maybe still recovering.

You were busy being dramatic,Nova said.

I was not dramatic.

Nova laughed again.

And hearing it

Actually hearing her

Made something inside me settle completely.

Because this was the final confirmation.

The last piece.

I wasn’t broken.

I wasn’t missing anything.

Nova was here.

Alive and strong.

Exactly where she belonged.

And that mattered more than I could explain.

A grin spread across my face.

Then I flopped backward onto the bed.

Completely unladylikebut completely comfortable.

My arms spread out beside me while I stared up at the ceiling.

Nova’s presence felt warm and familiar inside my head.

Like returning home after a very long trip.

I sighed happily.

“I feel good.

I know,Nova said.

For several seconds, neither of us spoke.

I simply enjoyed existing.

Which sounded strange.

But that was exactly what it felt like.

Enjoying existence, enjoying breathing.

Enjoying being able to stretch without pain.

Enjoying being able to think without something terrible hanging over me.

I hadn’t realized how exhausting everything had become until it was gone.

After a moment, another thought followed unexpectedly.

The thought of Roman

The smile softened.

I stared at the ceiling quietly.

He hadn’t returned with us.

He had gone his own way.

I understood why, and I respected it.

But still

The realization felt strange.

Nova immediately noticed.

You miss him already, don’t you?

I sighed.

Because honestly?

There wasn’t any point in pretending with Nova.

She already knew everything anyway.

A little.

I knew it.Nova sounded smug.

I folded my hands over my stomach.

The room fell quiet again.

I know he’ll be fine.

Nova waited.

I stared up at the ceiling.

As long as that’s what he wants.

Because that was the important part.

Roman had finally found himself.

Found his memories, found his wolf.

Found his purpose.

Nobody should take that choice away from him.

Not me.

Not Alexander.

Not anyone.

If he wanted to walk his own path, then he deserved the chance to do it.

I just worry,” I said.

Nova agreed immediately.

I know.

I sighed.

I can’t help it.

Because I could already picture him out there somewhere.

Alone.

Traveling.

Trying to figure out who he wanted to become.

Trying to prepare himself for everything waiting for him back at Stonevale.

That wasn’t a small burdennot even close.

He was carrying an entire future on his shoulders.

And despite how stubborn he could be-

Despite how much he pretended otherwise-

I knew it wouldn’t be easy.

Nova was quiet for a moment.

Then she finally said,

Roman is a survivor. He has a strong spirit.

A smile returned to my face.

Because that was true.

Probably the truest thing anyone could say about him.

Roman had survived exile.

OO

Chapter 499

He had survived losing his memory.

He had survived discovering truths that would have broken most people.

And somehow, he was still standing.

Still moving forwardstill refusing to quit.

I nodded slightly against the pillow.

Yeah,I said.

My smile widened.

You’re right,I added.
