A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 529

Chapter 522

Chapter 527

FAYE

I carried the bottle of wine over to the table.

It had been my idea to include it.

If I was going to surprise Alexander with dinner, wanted the entire evening to feel different. Slower, r intimate. Something that would pull him away from work, even if only for an hour.

I picked up the bottle and uncorked it before carefully pouring wine into both glasses.

All the while…

I could feel his eyes on me.

Not just looking.

Watching.

The kind of gaze that made me increasingly aware of every little movement I made.

I tried to ignore it as I finished pouring the second glass, but the longer it continued, the more self-conscious I became.

I finally looked up.

He was still watching me.

There was no embarrassment on his face.

No attempt whatsoever to hide it.

He simply sat there with the most openly admiring expression I’d ever seen.

Heat rushed to my cheeks almost instantly.

I laughed under my breath.

“What?” I asked.

Alexander didn’t answer immediately

He simply smirked.

The kind of smirk that somehow made my blush deepen

I quickly looked away before placing the bottle back on the table

“You’re staring,” I pointed out

“I know,” he replied.

Lshook my head, unable to stop smiling.

“You aren’t even trying to be subtle.”

“I don’t particularly want to be

I bit back another smile before walking around the table and lowering myself onto the couch beside him.

The plates were arranged neatly between us, and the aroma of the food filled the office.

I clasped my hands together and turned toward him.

“Go ahead,” I said. “Taste it.”

He looked at me.

“I’m dying to hear your review,” I added.

Instead of reaching for the spoon…

His eyes slowly traveled over me.

Very deliberately.

My heart skipped a beat.

His gaze lingered just long enough to make me painfully aware of my dress.

Alexander tilted his head slightly.

“I was wondering…” he said smoothly.

I raised an eyebrow. “Hm?”

“Maybe we could start with dessert…”

His eyes met mine.

“…and come back to the main dish later.”

I blinked

For one very confusing second

I actually looked around the table

Dessert?

I hadn’t brought-

Then it clicked

My eyes widened

“Alpha Alexander”

He looked entirely too pleased with himself.

+ couldn’t stop myself from laughing as I reached over and gave his chest a light push.

“That is not what we’re doing.”

He chuckled.

“I thought it was worth asking,” he said.
