For a few seconds, I simply tooked at him.
Alexander’s expression hadn’t changed.
The concern in his eyes was still there, quietly searching my face as though he was trying to figure out what had suddenly changed.
I smiled.
Instead of answering his question, I slowly stood up from the couch.
He watched me without saying a word.
I turned and walked toward the office door at an unhurried pace.
Behind me, I could practically feel his eyes following every step I took.
When I reached the door, I rested my hand on the handle before sliding the lock into place with a soft
click.
The sound echoed faintly through the otherwise quiet office.
Only then did I turn back to face him.
Alexander was still sitting exactly where I had left him.
One eyebrow had lifted slightly.
“What are you doing?” Alexander asked, his voice calm.
I bit my lip.
“Making sure we won’t be interrupted,” I replied.
His gaze remained fixed on me.
A slow smile began to spread across his face.
“I see.

I leaned lightly against the door for a brief moment before pushing myself away from it
My fingers reached for the thin material of the dress
I hesitated for only a heartbeat
Then, with a shy smile that I hoped hid just how fast my heart was beating, I slipped the dress from my
shoulders.
The fabric fell gracefully to the floor at my feet

Istood there for a moment in the simple matching underwear I had worn beneath it.
The room suddenly felt very quiet.
Alexander didn’t speak
He looked at me.
There was no trace of surprise anymore.
The intensity of his gaze made warmth rush into my cheeks despite the confidence I’d tried so hard to
maintain.
For a brief second, I wondered if I should say something.
Anything.
Instead, I smiled.
Alexander let out a slow breath.
For the first time in a long while…
He genuinely seemed at a loss for words.
His eyes never left mine.
There was something almost disbelieving in the way he looked at me, as though he were trying to convince himself that this wasn’t another one of his daydreams.
“You keep finding new ways to surprise me,” Alexander said quietly.
I laughed under my breath.
“I learned from the best.”
His smile deepened.
Without breaking eye contact, I slowly walked back toward him.
Each step seemed to draw his attention even more completely.
By the time I reached the couch, he still hadn’t looked away.
I stopped directly in front of him.
Then i gently rested one hand on his shoulder for balance before easing myself onto his lap, settling comfortably as I wrapped one leg around either side of him.
I looked into his eyes, smiling softly, while he continued to gaze back at me in complete silence. Alexander’s eyes never left mine. A slow smile spread across his face before he gently wrapped an arm around my waist.
In one smooth movement, he shifted our weight, carefully guiding us onto the couch until I was lying back

against the cushions and he was braced above the on one arm. His free hand brushed a loose strand of hair away from my face before tucking it behind my ear.
I laughed softly.
“I thought it was my turn.
The room had fallen into a peaceful silence by the time I finally opened my eyes again.
The meal we had abandoned still rested on the coffee table a few feet away, untouched for the moment.
The wine glasses remained where we had left them.
Alexander and I had ended up on the rug instead.
His shirt covered my naked body, reaching far enough to cover me from my chest to my thighs, carrying the familiar scent that always made me feel strangely safe.
I rested comfortably against him, my cheek pressed over the steady rhythm of his heartbeat while one of his arms remained wrapped securely around my waist.
His fingers moved lazily through my hair.
I closed my eyes again, listening to the quiet thump of his heart beneath my ear.
If someone had told me weeks ago that I’d experience moments like this again, I probably would have laughed in disbelief.
I had spent so much of my time running from one problem to another that moments like this had felt almost impossible.
Now…
I wished time would simply stop.
Alexander’s fingers continued absentmindedly combing through my hair.
The gentle movement almost lulled me to sleep.
Almost
Instead, I found myself thinking about something else entirely.
Something he had said a few days earlier.
I tilted my head slightly to look up at him.
His eyes were already on me
“What is it?” Alexander asked softly
I remained comfortably against him, absentmindedly tracing slow circles over his chest while he continued running his fingers through my hair
Chapter 529-
Eventually, I tilted my head slightly to look at him
“I’ve been thinking about something,” I said.
Alexander lowered his gaze to meet mine.
“What is it?” Alexander asked.
“I’ve been thinking about what you said the other day regarding Silver Hollow,” I replied. “I think you wer
right.”
He waited patiently for me to continue.
“I miss home,” I admitted quietly. “I miss my parents, and I think I’d like to visit them one of these days.”
For a few moments, Alexander said nothing.
Instead, his arm tightened around me almost instinctively, drawing me a little closer.
When he finally spoke, his voice was calm.
“To be honest, I may have changed my mind,” he said.
