I couldn’t just stand there and watch this continue.
I knew Alexander well enough to recognize the look in his eyes. He wasn’t far from losing his patience completely, and Jacob seemed determined to keep provoking him until he did.
I reached for Alexander’s arm.
“Can I have a moment with you?” I asked softly.
He didn’t answer immediately.
His eyes remained fixed on Jacob for another few seconds before he finally looked at me.
Without saying a word, he gave a small nod.
He turned and walked toward the door.
I followed him out of the detention wing, leaving the guards and the three men behind.
Neither of us spoke until we had put a good distance between ourselves and the cells.
The sounds from the detention wing gradually faded behind us.
Alexander stopped near one of the stone pathways leading toward the gardens.
He folded his arms across his chest and stared ahead./
I could still see the tension in every line of his body.
His jaw was clenched so tightly that the muscles along his face stood out.
Even now, after leaving the room, he wasn’t calming down.
I took a slow breath before speaking.
“I think you’re going about this the wrong way,” I said carefully.
Alexander turned his head slightly in my direction but remained silent.
“I understand why you’re angry,” I continued. “Honestly, I don’t blame you for feeling the way you do.”
I paused for a moment before continuing.

“If I’m being honest, I also believe those men had something to do with what happened yesterday. The
timing is simply too convenient, and everything you’ve told me points in the same direction.”
Alexander remained quiet, allowing me to continue.
“But that’s exactly why I think you need to be careful,” I said.

Chapter 548
“They wanted your attention.”
“They wanted you to react.”
“They wanted to push you into a corner where your emotions would take over.”
I looked directly at him.
“And now they’re using that against you.”
“They’re already accusing you of locking them up simply because they challenged your authority.”
“If you lose your temper in there, you’ll only give them exactly what they came here hoping to get.”
Alexander closed his eyes briefly before letting out a slow breath.
For a moment, I thought my words had reached him.
Then he opened his eyes again.
“They may very well be baiting me,” Alexander said quietly.
His voice was calm, but I could still hear the anger beneath it.
“I’ve considered that.”
He shook his head.
“But it doesn’t change anything.”
He finally turned to face me fully.
“I can overlook people insulting me.”
“I can tolerate disagreement.”
“I can even tolerate open defiance if it serves the greater good of this pack.”
His expression hardened.
“But what happened yesterday crossed a line.”
His voice became noticeably firmer.
“They laid an ambush for my Luna inside my own territory.”
“They chose to make you their message.”
His eyes never left mine.
“Do you understand what that means?”
I didn’t answer.
“They didn’t simply attack you,” Alexander continued.

“They challenged the safety of this territory.”
“They challenged every warrier who wears the Blood Crescent crest.
He shook his head slowly.
