Chapter 560
ALEXANDER
After I got off the phone with my assistant, Ash, I dialed another number… the pack security office.
The call was answered almost immediately.
“Release the men from the cells and send them to my office immediately,” I instructed.
There was a brief pause.
“Understood, Alpha.”
The call ended.
I placed my phone down on the desk and leaned back slightly, waiting.
About fifteen minutes later, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” I said.
The door opened, and the three men stepped inside.
Their expressions varied, but none of them looked pleased to be there.
I gestured toward the chairs.
“Sit.”
Two of them walked toward the chairs in front of my desk and took their seats.
The third chose the armchair beside the door.
I watched them carefully.
Jacob, in particular, was impossible to miss.
He was physically fuming.
His jaw was tense, his hands were clenched, and his entire body carried a barely controlled
rage.
The only thing stopping him from doing anything reckless was the knowledge of the consequences that would follow… because there was an Alpha in the room.

I ignored his expression.
I had not brought them here to argue.
“I want to make something clear,” I said.
All three of them looked at me.

“I am not releasing you because I have suddenly decided that I believe you are innocent.”
Jacob’s expression hardened.
“The investigation is still ongoing, and if any of you are found to be responsible for what happened, you will be punished accordingly.”
I paused, letting my words settle.
“But right now, I have no reason to continue keeping you locked up,” I said.
A bitter laugh escaped Jacob. “So this is what this is about?”
I looked at him.
“All of a sudden, you are trying to prove you are a good leader by letting us go?” Jacob added.
His eyes narrowed.
“Setting us free from a cell means nothing, Alpha Alexander. If you are not willing to do what is right, then you can go ahead and keep us locked up.”
I leaned back in my chair, relaxing slightly as I studied him.
That kind of talk was expected.
FAYE
I was already standing outside the office when I heard voices coming from inside.
I had come to meet up with him after getting dressed, but the moment I reached the door, I stopped.
Jacob’s voice carried through the room, filled with the same anger and defiance he had shown since he was brought in.
I raised my hand, intending to knock.

Then I heard Alexander laugh.
I paused.
It wasn’t a laugh of amusement.
I knew Alexander well enough to know that sound.
It was the kind of laugh that came when he had heard enough.
“Shut up, Jacob.”
The coldness in his voice immediately made me lower my hand.
The atmosphere seemed to shift.

Even from outside the door, I could feel his Alpha aura spreading through the room, heavy and commanding.
The silence that followed was immediate.
Alexander didn’t raise his voice.
He didn’t need to.
“I am done listening to you use the voices of the wolves as an excuse for disrespect.”
His words were sharp but still controlled.
“This has gone on for too long.”
I remained still, listening.
“I have heard your concerns. I have listened to what you came here to say. But what I will not accept is someone deciding that they have the right to speak as if they represent every wolf in the eastern border.”
There was a pause.
“From now on, I will hear from them myself.”
I frowned slightly.
“I will go there myself,” he continued. “I will listen to the people directly. If they have grievances, they can tell me themselves. If something is wrong, I will hear it from them.”
His voice remained steady.

“And I will also see the situation for myself.”
I leaned against the wall beside the door, listening quietly.

“Don’t worry. I will find a suitable person to represent the eastern border when the time comes,” he added. “But until then, no one will stand between me and the people I am responsible for.”
There was silence again.
I looked through the small crack in the door that had been left slightly open.
For the first time since I met Jacob, he looked different.
The anger was still there, but a greater part of it had been replaced by something else.
Surprise.
Maybe even confusion.
He had clearly expected Alexander to dismiss his concerns or continue defending his decisions without actually doing anything.
But Alexander’s words had caught him off guard.
