Chapter 569-1
SILVER HOLLOW
JASON
By the time we arrived at Pius’s house, the entire area had already been secured.
Graim
Several members of pack security stood around the property, keeping the growing crowd of curious wolves at a distance. Even from where I stood, I could feel the tension hanging heavily in the air.
People were whispering.
They didn’t know everything yet, but they knew enough.
They knew something terrible had happened.
And in a pack like Silver Hollow, news like that never stayed quiet for long.
I stepped out of the vehicle, my beta immediately following behind me.
The moment the security wolves saw me, they straightened.
“Alpha.”
I gave a brief nod before continuing toward the house.
I didn’t need anyone to tell me how serious the situation was.
The atmosphere already did.
Liam was waiting near the entrance.
He was one of Pius’s colleagues, and unlike the others standing around the property, he wasn’t looking at me with fear or uncertainty.
He looked exhausted.
Like he had spent the last few hours trying to understand something that made no sense. It was understandable, considering how close he was to Pius.
“Alpha Jason.”
I acknowledged him before looking toward the house.
For a moment, Liam said nothing.

Neither did I.
There were moments when words only delayed what needed to be seen.
Finally, he stepped aside.
I walked inside.
Pius’s remains had been removed before we got there.
The first thing I noticed was the damage.
The living room looked like a battlefield.
Furniture had been thrown aside. The wooden table in the center of the room had been broken apart, one side completely separated from the other. Pieces of glass covered the floor, and several parts of the wall carried deep marks from claws.
This wasn’t the result of someone trying to escape.
This was the aftermath of a fight.
A violent one.
My eyes moved across the room slowly.
There was blood.
Not just a single spot.
There were trails.
Marks that showed movement.
Whoever attacked Pius had not killed him immediately.
He had fought.
The thought didn’t surprise me.
Claim
Pius had always been thorough. Careful. The kind of wolf who refused to walk away from a problem simply because it was difficult.
If someone came for him, I had no doubt he would have fought back.
I continued deeper into the house.
The destruction followed.

The hallway carried more evidence of the struggle.
A broken frame hung crookedly from the wall. One of the doors had been badly damaged, and there were more signs of a fight leading toward the back rooms.
Liam followed quietly behind me.
When we reached his office, I stopped.
The room was different.
The rest of the house had been destroyed by violence.
This room had been destroyed with purpose.
Every drawer had been pulled open.
Every cabinet had been searched.
Papers covered the floor.
Files had been scattered.
The organization Pius had maintained so carefully was gone.
Someone had gone through everything.
Not randomly.
Not carelessly.
They knew exactly what they were searching for.
I stepped further inside.
The desk was the first thing that caught my attention.
The drawers were open.
Empty.
“The place where he kept his notes, his records, and the information he had been gathering was completely cleared,” Liam said.
I looked around the room.
The more I saw, the clearer it became.
