A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 608

< Chapter 589

Chapter 589

SAGE

Claia

I stood by the bedroom window with my arms folded across my chest, looking down at the training grounds below.

The entire place had been transformed into something that barely resembled the familiar grounds I had grown up seeing.

There had always been warriors training there.

That was normal.

What wasn’t normal was seeing ordinary pack members standing where seasoned soldiers usually stood.

Farmers, hunters, blacksmiths… name them.

Young wolves who had only recently reached adulthood, women who had never held a weapon outside seasonal drills.

Even elderly wolves who should have been resting after years of serving the pack had been called to participate in defensive exercises.

Everyone.

Jason wanted everyone ready.

I watched him bark another order, his voice carrying clearly all the way up to the second floor.

Even from this distance, I could see how exhausted they were.

Several wolves bent over with their hands on their knees, struggling to catch their breath.

Others could barely lift their practice weapons anymore.

None of that mattered to Jason.

He kept pushing.

Again.

Again.

Again.

< Chapter 589

The training hadn’t stopped for hours.

No…

That wasn’t entirely true.

It had stopped just now. Jason had finally dismissed them for a ten-minute break.

Not because he believed they deserved one.

Because even he understood they would collapse if he didn’t.

I watched him remain standing in the middle of the field while everyone else scattered

toward the water stations.

He wasn’t resting. He wasn’t talking. He simply stood there, his shoulders stiff, his eyes scanning the grounds as though he was already imagining enemies charging through the

gates.

A quiet sigh escaped me.

“He is losing himself.” My mother’s voice came from behind me.

I didn’t turn.

I already knew she had been standing there for several minutes.

She walked over until she was beside me, following my line of sight toward the training

grounds.

For a while, neither of us spoke. There wasn’t much to say.

The scene below explained everything. Finally, my mother broke the silence.

“You need to do something about this.”

I let out a dry laugh.

“I do?” I asked. It wasn’t like I didn’t know what she meant; I just thought it was funny that she

thought it was that simple.

She turned toward me.

“You’re his Luna.”

The words made me smile. Not because they amused me… but because they were painfully

ironic.

<Chapter 589

“You should speak to him.”

I slowly looked at her.

“You think I haven’t?” I asked.

She frowned slightly.

“He is your mate, Sage.

“I know exactly who he is,” I said.

“And because you know him,” she continued patiently, “you should know how to reach him.”

I looked back out the window. Jason had already started correcting one of the warriors during their break.

He couldn’t even allow them ten minutes of peace. My mother shook her head.

“He isn’t thinking clearly anymore,” she said.

I didn’t answer.

“He has stopped listening to reason,” my mother continued.

I said nothing.

“He barely listens to the council.”

That made me laugh quietly. A short, bitter laugh.

My mother looked at me.

“Is it really funny?” she asked.

I finally turned around to face her.

“If you think Jason doesn’t listen to the council…” I started.

I paused.

“…then you should know it’s even worse when it comes to me.”

She remained silent.

“I am supposed to be his Luna.”

I smiled bitterly.

<Chapter 589

“The one person he should trust above everyone else.”

I shook my head slowly.

“He doesn’t trust me at all.”

The words came out more calmly than I felt.

“He barely respects my opinion.”

My mother frowned.

“What are you talking about-” she started.

I interrupted her gently.

“You’ve seen it yourself, Mom.”

I walked away from the window before continuing.

“I can advise him.”

I shrugged.

“I can suggest something.”

I smiled without humour.

“He’ll nod.”

I took another step.

“And then he’ll do whatever he had already decided to do.”

I reached the centre of the room before stopping.

“That’s Jason.”

The room fell quiet again. My mother didn’t argue. She couldn’t. She had witnessed enough over the past months to know I wasn’t exaggerating.

Jason respected warriors, he respected strength, he respected authority.

But somewhere along the way… he had stopped seeing me as someone whose voice carried weight.

Sometimes I wondered if he ever truly had. My mother finally spoke again.

“If he refuses to reach out to Alpha Alexander…”

<Chapter 589

I already knew where this conversation was heading. It was always the same. There are

some things you just can’t escape.

“…then perhaps you should,” she added.

I closed my eyes briefly.

She continued.

“You don’t need Jason’s permission.”

I turned toward her.

“If Jason is too proud to ask Blood Crescent for help officially…”

She stepped closer.

“…perhaps you can pull the strings quietly as the Luna who cares about her people.”
