Chapter 588
THIRD POV
The training grounds echoed with the sound of heavy breathing, boots pounding against packed earth, and the sharp crack of wooden practice weapons colliding.
Clai
Dust hung thick in the afternoon air, clinging to sweat-soaked skin and making every breath
feel heavier than the last.
Dozens of wolves occupied the field.
Some were experienced warriors who had defended the pack for years.
Most were not.
Many of those standing in formation had never expected to spend their days on a military training ground. They were farmers, craftsmen, hunters, traders, and ordinary members of Silver Hollow who had answered the call when Jason ordered every able-bodied wolf to begin emergency combat drills.
The pack no longer had the luxury of relying only on trained soldiers.
If North Ridge attacked…
Everyone would have to fight.
Jason stood in the middle of the field with his arms folded behind his back.
His expression was hard and cold.
His eyes followed every movement the trainees made, catching every mistake before it was fully made.
“Again!”
His voice boomed across the training grounds.
The exhausted wolves immediately repositioned themselves despite the obvious strain in
their bodies.
A young wolf raised his wooden spear.
Too slowly.
Jason crossed the distance between them in seconds.
<Chapter 588
“Is that how you plan to defend your family?”
The young man swallowed.
“N-No, Alpha.”
“Then raise it properly!”
The command exploded from Jason.
The young wolf quickly corrected his stance, his trembling arms struggling to keep the weapon steady.
Jason circled him slowly.
“Your opponent will not wait for you.”
He shoved the spear downward with one hand.
The weapon slipped from the trainee’s grasp and hit the ground.
Jason stared at him.
“You are dead.”
The young man’s face flushed with embarrassment.
Jason stepped away without another word.
His attention immediately shifted to another section of the field.
Two women were practising defensive movements with wooden staffs.
One hesitated.
The other lost her balance trying to compensate.
Jason walked straight toward them.
“No.”
His voice cut through the air.
“If you hesitate…”
He snatched one of the staffs from the nearest woman and swung it toward the other before she could react.
She barely managed to block.
Chapter 588
The force sent her stumbling backward.
Claim
“If that had been a real weapon,” Jason said, “you would already be lying dead on the ground.”
Neither woman answered. Both simply lowered their heads.
Jason handed the staff back.
“Again.”
His tone left no room for discussion.
Around the field, the pressure continued building.
Another group struggled through endurance drills.
Some collapsed to one knee before forcing themselves back up.
Others fought to keep pace despite visibly shaking legs.
No one dared complain.
Jason refused to let them stop.
“Move!”
His voice rang out again.
“Louder!”
One of the younger wolves shouted the count for the entire group.
“We can’t hear you!”
The counting became louder.
Still, Jason wasn’t satisfied.
“I said louder!”
By now, the atmosphere no longer resembled ordinary training.
It resembled preparation for survival. Every command carried urgency. Every correction came with unforgiving intensity.
No mistake went unnoticed. No weakness escaped his attention.
Several older warriors standing nearby exchanged uneasy looks.

Claim
Even they had never seen Jason push civilians this hard before.
A middle-aged blacksmith stumbled while dragging a weighted sled across the field.
Before he could recover, Jason was already standing over him.
“Get up.”
The man pushed himself upright. His chest rose and fell rapidly.
“My legs…”
Jason’s expression never changed.
“If your legs fail during battle, your enemies will not stop to let you rest.”
The blacksmith clenched his jaw and forced himself to continue pulling.
Jason watched him for another moment before moving on.
The pressure never eased. The shouting never stopped.
The training ground had become a place where exhaustion was ignored and weakness was treated like an enemy.
From the far side of the field, Beta Caleb observed everything in silence.
He had watched Jason train warriors countless times.
He knew how demanding his Alpha could be.
He knew discipline had always been one of Jason’s greatest expectations.
But this…
This was different.
Jason wasn’t correcting mistakes anymore.
He was trying to force ordinary wolves into becoming seasoned soldiers within days.
Caleb sighed quietly.
He finally began walking toward him.
Jason didn’t acknowledge his arrival.
His attention remained fixed on the trainees.

“Again!”
The exhausted wolves immediately restarted the exercise.
Caleb stopped beside him.
“Alpha, they’ve been going for almost three hours now.”
Jason didn’t respond.
Claim
Caleb watched another young wolf stumble to the ground before struggling back onto his
feet.
“They’re exhausted.”
Jason finally spoke.
“So will North Ridge be.”
Caleb looked at him.
“Most of these people aren’t warriors.”
Jason’s eyes remained on the field.
“Exactly. And they need to be.”
Caleb shook his head.
His voice stayed respectful.
“They’re members of the pack who answered your call because they trust you.”
Jason remained silent.
“They’ve always trained,” Caleb continued. “Every wolf in Silver Hollow knows basic combat. They attend seasonal drills. They know how to defend themselves if necessary.”
He paused.
“But basic training and becoming a soldier are two different things.”
Jason finally turned to face him.
Every trace of warmth had disappeared from his expression.
“Every soldier started exactly where they are.”
Caleb nodded.
Chapter 588
“You’re right.”
Jason waited.
“They became soldiers because they trained consistently.”
Caleb gestured toward the field.
“They had months.”
Another pause.
“Years.”
His voice became quieter.
“What you’re trying to do…”
