A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 619

Chapter 598

Chapter 598

THIRD POV

Alice had never felt humiliation like that before.

The moment she closed the door behind her, she remained standing there, completely still, as if her body had returned to the room, but her mind was still trapped in the hallway.

The voices.

The stares.

The silence of everyone watching.

She could still feel them.

She could still remember the way the pack members looked at her when Sage dragged her into the open and made sure everyone understood exactly what she thought of her.

Alice’s hands curled into fists.

She hated Sage.

She had always known Sage didn’t like her. That was obvious. From the first time Sage realized there was something between her and Jason, there had been tension between them.

But Alice had never expected Sage to humiliate her like that.

Not publicly.

Not in front of the entire pack.

She had expected anger. She had expected insults.

Maybe even a confrontation.

Chapter 508

wanted comfort.

Claim

The same woman he laughed with when he was tired of carrying the weight of being Alpha.

But somehow, Sage had managed to make her feel like she was nothing.

Like she was just another person who had forgotten her place.

Alice’s jaw tightened.

That was what angered her the most. Sage believed a title gave her everything. Because she was Luna, she believed she was untouchable.

She believed that standing beside Jason publicly meant she owned every part of him.

But Alice knew better. A title was not everything. A title could be given. A title could be taken

away.

What mattered was the person Jason chose when no one was watching.

And Jason chose her.

That thought was the only thing that kept Alice from feeling completely defeated.

She had never originally wanted the Luna position.

Not really.

People assumed she had been chasing power from the beginning, that she had been waiting for the chance to replace Sage.

But that wasn’t how it started.

She wanted Jason. She wanted his attention.

She wanted the way his entire expression changed when he saw her.

She wanted the moments when he forgot about the responsibilities of being Alpha and allowed himself to simply be a man.

< Chapter 598

But Sage had changed something.

Before tonight, Alice had been content with what she had.

She had Jason’s time, his attention, and his affection.

That was enough.

Clam

But after what Sage had done, after being forced to stand there while the entire pack looked at her like she was nothing more than a mistake, Alice no longer wanted to simply exist quietly in Jason’s life.

She wanted Sage to understand.

She wanted Sage to feel the same insecurity she had tried to place on her.

Alice moved toward the window and looked out at the pack grounds.

Sage thought she had won.

That was the part that annoyed Alice the most. Sage probably believed that embarrassing her would make her disappear.

That Alice would become ashamed and stay away.

But Alice wasn’t leaving.

If anything, Sage had given her a reason to stay… a reason to fight.

She would not allow Sage to believe she could simply destroy her confidence and walk away

victorious.

Alice knew exactly what she needed to do.

She didn’t need to challenge Sage for the title.

Not yet.

That would be foolish. The pack respected Sage because of her position and history. Trying to take that away directly would only make people defend her.

But Alice didn’t need the title yet.

She needed something much more important… influence.

that being Luna did not mean she had control over everything.

Chapter 598

Jason wanted her.

That was where Alice had power.

Sage could stand beside him during ceremonies. She could wear the crown. She could. receive the respect of the pack.

But Alice knew the truth…

When Jason was angry, he came to her.

When Jason was frustrated, he came to her.

When Jason wanted comfort, he came to her.

That was something Sage couldn’t take away.

A small smile appeared on Alice’s face.

A cold one.

Sage wanted a war?

Fine.

Alice knew how to fight.

She wouldn’t fight with titles. She wouldn’t fight with public arguments.

She would fight by reminding Jason exactly why he kept coming back to her.

She would stay close.

She would continue being the person who made him feel understood.

She would continue giving him what Sage couldn’t.

And eventually, Sage would realize something.
