Summer and that man were laughing and talking, looking very close.
A smug look flashed in Iris's eyes.
She quickly took out her phone, snapped a picture, and immediately sent it to Vincent.
Summer turned her head and saw Iris standing not far away, staring at her. She gave her a cold glance and then looked away.
This was too important of an occasion. She wasn't going to let some lowlife ruin her mood.
She knew Iris would be at the gala, and she knew they would eventually cross paths.
But she was here tonight to find business partners, not to seek revenge.
When it was all over, before she died, she would get back at those who had hurt her.
Seeing Summer ignore her, Iris took it as a sign of guilt. She was clearly flustered about being caught with her lover.
Iris glanced around. No one was nearby.
She dropped her usual sweet and innocent facade, her eyes flashing with venom and hatred.
Iris walked forward, blocking their path.
"Well, well. No wonder I couldn't find you in the main hall. You were hiding back here, having a secret rendezvous with your boy toy."
Iris shot a disdainful look at the bewildered Alan standing beside Summer.
"Tsk, tsk. I must say, Sister Summer—no, Aunt Summer—you've certainly changed your tastes. Your standards are getting lower and lower. I can't believe you'd stoop to this level. Aren't you afraid Vincent will find out?" Iris taunted Summer with a barrage of vicious words, deliberately using "Aunt Summer" to mock her age.
"You're not even divorced yet. If you're that desperate, you could at least find a real man. But him? Heh! I wonder if he can even perform. I'd hate for you to get lonely and have to go fooling around again..."
Summer glanced at Alan, who still looked utterly confused.
She decided to swallow her anger.
She couldn't let Iris ruin her purpose for being here tonight.
And she didn't want Alan to get dragged into this.
With money on the line, she could ignore this filth.
Summer tuned out the noise.
