Vincent didn't know what was going on, but he could tell from Iris's expression that the papers from Summer's bag were important.
He was about to walk over, but Iris obediently brought the document to him.
Vincent took it and looked.
When he saw the bold words at the top of the page, his pupils contracted, and his face instantly turned pale.
A flicker of panic crossed his eyes, quickly replaced by rage and hatred. It felt like a sharp knife had been plunged into his chest.
"So that's it. You want to divorce me for that bastard!" Vincent couldn't believe that the Summer who had loved him so much would leave him for another man.
She'd even prepared the divorce papers in advance. This was planned. And she had tried to lie, claiming she had just met the man.
She was still such a liar!
He loved her so much he couldn't bear the thought of her working, couldn't stand other men even looking at her.
Summer was too perfect, too capable. There were times he felt he didn't deserve someone as brilliant as Summer.
That's why he worked so relentlessly, trying to prove he was worthy of her.
And what was the result?
Summer had turned into a venomous shrew, constantly hurting Iris and now betraying him.
In that instant, the faith Vincent had clung to for years shattered. He felt like he had been a puppet in her hands all along.
But he still loved her.
Only he was worthy of such an exceptional woman. He had worked so hard for her. Why should he let her go be with someone else?
Even in death, she would be his wife.
His pride as a man was deeply wounded. Vincent's eyes filled with the humiliated fury of being deceived.
Summer's consciousness began to fade. The intense pain and lack of oxygen made her vision swim with black spots.
Vincent stood by, watching coldly.
He knew Summer was resilient. Nothing serious would happen to her.
Seeing Iris put aside their history to give Summer medicine, Vincent felt another pang of guilt toward her.
"Iris, after everything she's done to you, you still..."
Vincent thought Iris was simply too kind, which was why Summer was always able to bully her.
After giving Summer the pill, Iris stood up, feigning deep concern, and took Vincent's hand.
"Vincent, Summer was wrong, but she is your wife. Please forgive her. I'm sure she won't betray you again."
Iris knew Vincent all too well. She knew exactly what to say to stoke his anger even further.
As for giving Summer the medicine, she wasn't being kind. She just couldn't let Summer pass out so easily.
