The cart had several fruit platters, providing excellent cover. The device was so small that no one would notice it unless they were looking for it.
They had bought several of them yesterday, just in case they couldn't use their phones to film.
The waiter didn't suspect a thing, assuming it was a guest's order. He knocked politely on the door. After a minute, the door opened from the inside.
Yates stood there, a flicker of annoyance in his eyes. "What is it?"
The waiter flashed a standard professional smile.
"Good evening, sir. This is a complimentary selection of fruit, snacks, and drinks from The Alderidge Hotel. Please enjoy."
Yates assumed it was a special service the hotel provided for its guests, thoughtfully delivering refreshments to their private rooms.
He didn't give it a second thought and took the cart. "I'll take it from here."
With that, Yates pushed the cart into the room and kicked the door shut behind him.
The waiter, of course, had no idea there was another person inside.
Meanwhile, in the back garden.
Melody was getting anxious. Janina had been silent and mysterious the whole way, and she had no idea what was going on. Before she could ask, Janina spoke.
"Melody, there's something wrong with Yates. I need you to watch this video."
Janina decided to be direct. It was the only way to prevent Yates from brainwashing Melody again. She hoped that after seeing the video, Melody would finally recognize his true colors.
Upon hearing Janina's first sentence, Melody's initial instinct was to defend him.
But then Janina mentioned a video, and the words caught in her throat. Janina didn't look like she was joking.
Janina sent the video she had filmed yesterday to Melody.
Melody was confused as she opened it. As she watched, her expression shifted from confusion to shock, then to disbelief, and finally to rage. She stared at Janina, dumbfounded.
