He answered almost immediately. "Nina, what's up?"
Janina said, "Brother Nolan, is your girlfriend feeling any better? I didn't see you two come back down, so I thought I'd call and check on her."
Nolan assumed his sister was just concerned about Jacqueline, and a warmth spread through his chest.
"She's better. She's resting in the lounge and told me not to disturb her. I'm on the first floor. I don't see you, though."
"Oh, you came down? I'm, uh, in the restroom. Go chat with your friends for a bit, I'll find you later."
Janina hung up. Knowing that Jacqueline was now alone in the lounge, she felt this was more serious than she thought.
An idea sparked in her mind. She turned to the others and said, "I'll put a listening device in Jacqueline's room. We need to find out what Yates is really up to."
If his plan ended up hurting Melody, they'd make sure he paid for it.
Besides, Janina had always found the relationship between Jacqueline and Yates strange. With her brother Nolan's and Melody's futures on the line, she had to get to the bottom of it.
As the primary victim, Melody immediately stood up. "I'll go with you."
It made sense for Melody to go. She was Jacqueline's colleague and friend, so her presence wouldn't arouse suspicion.
Maggie and Wendy wanted to follow, but they knew it would be too obvious. They had no connection to Jacqueline. Wendy offered a word of caution.
"Melody, don't blow your cover. We don't know their plan yet. Just act normal."
Melody nodded. Her mind was consumed with Yates's cheating, and hatred burned in her eyes. But she understood what Wendy meant. They needed to uncover Yates's darker side. She wanted to see what kind of man the one who professed his love for her every day truly was.
Jacqueline was in VIP lounge 205. It didn't take long for Janina and Melody to get there.
