Even Yates was a little touched. Melody truly cared for him, unable to bear seeing him suffer even the slightest harm.
What he didn't know was that behind her hands, Melody was grinning with delight.
She had been itching for a chance to give the scumbag a beating, and Nolan's brilliant plan had given this bastard a well-deserved lesson.
When she removed her hands, her face was once again a mask of teary-eyed concern. She reached out and ‘gently' touched the wounds on Yates's face.
"Agh! Get your hand away from me!" The moment her fingers made contact, a searing pain shot through Yates, making his teeth chatter.
"Oh, Yates, I'm so sorry! I hurt you. I won't touch you again." Melody flustered about, trying to help Yates up, but Jacqueline stopped her.
Janina saw Melody's performance and had to stifle a laugh. She exchanged a glance with Maggie and quickly helped Nolan to a nearby lounge. Wendy, meanwhile, stayed behind to help Melody.
They had been in the lounge for less than three minutes when Jacqueline stormed in, her face a thundercloud.
She wasn't there to check on Nolan; she was there to demand an explanation. Yates was the most important person in her life, and she couldn't stand to see Nolan beat him like that. Even if Nolan was drunk, that was no excuse.
"Nolan, how could you? I thought you were a gentleman, but you're so violent! Does this mean you'll start hitting me next?" Jacqueline's anger was palpable as she confronted him.
If Janina and Maggie hadn't been there, she would have slapped Nolan herself, just to vent her frustration.
Nolan had no choice but to continue his act. He was the real victim here. Not only had Jacqueline cheated on him for years, but now she was defending her lover and blaming him. He had hit Yates to let off steam, but now wasn't the time to reveal his hand. If he didn't want to find out their plan for the day, he couldn't expose Jacqueline's true colors just yet.
