Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 147

As soon as Janina and Maggie left, Jacqueline immediately called Yates.

Within minutes, he arrived at Nolan's lounge.

Yates's injuries looked gruesome, but they weren't critical. He could still move, though his face would take some time to heal.

Yates entered, locked the door behind him, and walked over to Nolan. He raised his hand, ready to slap Nolan hard across the face, but stopped mid-air. Gritting his teeth, he forced down his anger and lowered his hand. "If you weren't worth three hundred thousand right now, I'd beat the living hell out of you. I'll settle this score after I get the money."

Yates glared at the dead-to-the-world Nolan, the movement pulling at his facial wounds and making him wince in pain.

Jacqueline looked at Yates with a face full of concern and whispered, "Don't be so loud. What if he hears you?" She shot a disgusted look at Nolan, then wrapped her arm around Yates, her demeanor shifting to soft and seductive. "He's like this. Do we still need to drug him?"

Yates ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "We have to. I want him unable to get out of bed for three days. You get the drink ready. I'm going to call Ms. Wallace; she should be ready on her end."

With that, Jacqueline got up to prepare. There were no sodas in the lounge, only two bottles of mineral water.

She took out the drug she'd prepared earlier and tipped the white powder into one of the bottles. It dissolved without a trace.

Peeking through his eyelashes, Nolan saw Yates on the phone by the window while Jacqueline emptied a packet of powder into a water bottle, even shaking it to mix it in.

A shiver ran down Nolan's spine. He racked his brain, trying to remember any bad things he'd ever done. He'd met Jacqueline online, and they had no history of animosity, let alone with Yates, whom he'd only met once. But from their conversation, it was clear this plan to drug him was premeditated.

But why? And he was worth three hundred thousand!

At that moment, Yates finished his call and came over. "I'll pry his mouth open, you pour it in." He put his phone in his pocket and used both hands to force Nolan's mouth open. The pressure was immense, and Nolan had no choice but to part his lips.

Jacqueline seized the opportunity, tipping the bottle and pouring the water straight into his mouth.

Nolan could have struggled, but he knew he couldn't give up now, not when he was so close to uncovering their entire scheme. An idea came to him. He felt the cool liquid fill his mouth but held it in his throat, not swallowing a drop. He squinted his eyes, waited for the perfect moment, and then sprayed the mouthful of water directly into their two faces.

"Pfft!"

"Aah!"

Two cries broke out at the same time.
