Janina's eyes filled with scorn as she met Yvonne's gaze.
"Good friends? Holding hands with a married man, moving into his house… Have you no shame?"
She had no proof the baby was Julius's, nor that they had slept together. She only spoke of what she had seen with her own eyes.
Yvonne's smile froze on her face. She shot up from her chair, knocking over a small dish of oil in her haste, spilling it on her clothes and hands.
Ignoring the mess, she looked at Janina with tear-filled eyes, a picture of pitiable innocence as large tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Miss Holt, it's not what you think. It was because I was sick and could barely walk that Julius held my hand. You can't say such things about me…"
Her tears flowed like a broken dam, and her last words dissolved into choked sobs.
Janina thought to herself that Melody could learn a thing or two about acting from Yvonne; maybe then she wouldn't still be stuck as an extra on set.
"That's enough, Janina! You've gone too far!" a man's roar cut through the air.
He pulled Yvonne toward the washroom, and soon the sound of running water could be heard from inside.
The breakfast ended on a sour note.
Julius went to his study, and Yvonne went upstairs to change.
After finishing her bread and milk, Janina looked at the messy table and snorted.
Why should she be the one to endure this?
A cheater and a bitch were flaunting their affair right in front of her, and somehow, she was the one at fault?
Half an hour later, after composing herself, Janina went to Julius's study and pushed the door open without knocking.
The first thing she saw was Yvonne standing behind Julius, massaging his temples while he leaned back in his chair with a look of pure enjoyment.
Ha, so quick to protect her!
"Yvonne, go back to your room for now," Julius said to her.
Yvonne nodded obediently, glanced at Janina, and then left the study.
With Yvonne gone, only Janina and Julius remained.
Janina took a deep breath and finally said what was on her mind.
"Julius, even if I believe that you and Yvonne are innocent, that you're just caring for her as a friend like you said, I'm telling you right now that her intentions toward you are not pure."
"Her feelings for you go far beyond friendship. She wants to steal you from me. If you aren't blind, you should be able to see it in her actions instead of constantly telling me to tolerate it."
"You say I'm being unreasonable? But you're a married man - holding another woman's hand, spending the night with her, acting this intimate in front of everyone. Where's your sense of boundaries? Your decency? Am I really making a scene, or are you just too scared to admit you've never moved on from Yvonne?"
