"And me? I was just a shield for you to hide behind, a way to avoid both relationships. Julius, you really think too highly of yourself."
Janina said it all in one breath, her voice rising with each word.
But all she got in return was Julius's sarcastic reply, "With an imagination like that, why don't you become a screenwriter?"
Janina couldn't help but laugh bitterly. She had actually tried to reason with this man.
She pulled out a chair and sat across from him. Today, she wasn't talking about anything else. Just one thing: the assets.
"I don't want the house or the cars. I just want the money. Liquidate it all and give me a lump sum. Five million. My lawyer is already drafting the divorce agreement. I'll give it to you tonight when you get back. After we're settled, we owe each other nothing."
It was obvious Julius wasn't taking her words seriously. He still believed this was all a ploy to get his attention.
He thought she loved him too much, cared too much, and that's why she couldn't tolerate Yvonne's presence and was constantly angry.
When a woman gets jealous, all logic goes out the window.
With that thought, most of Julius's anger dissipated.
He stood up, walked over to Janina, and pulled her out of the chair, settling her onto his lap.
Janina was completely caught off guard. She struggled violently, pushing against him. "Julius, are you insane? Let me go!"
The man was too strong. His arms wrapped around her like steel bands, and he buried his face in the crook of her neck. Unable to break free, Janina bit down hard on his shoulder.
She put all her strength into it, and Julius cried out in pain. "What are you, a dog?"
Finally, he stopped.
He tilted his head up to look at her.
His face was illuminated by the soft morning light, accentuating his sharp, handsome features. His long lashes were slightly lowered, and the sunlight made him look even more refined and attractive. It was this handsome face that had once made her fall so deeply, so hopelessly in love.
His strange and intense passion had frightened her. Thank God she had been quick-witted enough to stop him.
Janina forced herself to sound calm. "Ugh! Don't touch me. I want a divorce!" With those final words, she fled the study.
The Julius from a moment ago had been terrifying. She was no match for his physical strength. If he had been any more forceful, she might have…
Janina rushed back to her room and locked the door, then immediately grabbed her phone to call Maggie.
The call connected in two seconds.
"Maggie, have the lawyer draw up the divorce papers immediately. I can't take this anymore."
Hearing the urgency in Janina's voice, Maggie understood.
Maggie asked, "Did you discuss the assets? And what about the baby? What's Julius's attitude?"
