But there was still one thing Lynn hadn't explained. Why was she so certain he would go along with it? Even if he was drugged, he could still go to the police afterward.
Wasn't she afraid of being exposed?
Nolan shot back without hesitation.
"Have you taken a good look at yourself? You're old enough to be my mother! How much Botox is in that face?
"Do your kids know you're this shameless? Does your husband? That makeup is so thick you could spackle a wall with it. How can you even say these things?
"Do you see yourself through some kind of beauty filter? What makes you think I'd want your filthy money? Get lost!"
"Get out now. This is your last warning. This place is full of people. If I shout, security will be up here in a second," Nolan threatened, glaring at the woman.
Lynn leaned back against the sofa, a flicker of anger in her eyes. No man had ever spoken to her so crudely. Nolan was the first.
She dropped the pretense. Seeing Nolan's flushed face, she assumed the drug was finally kicking in. She scoffed.
"You're being difficult. It's an honor that I've chosen you. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement… Do you really think they'll believe you over me if they come up here?"
Nolan finally realized the trap.
She was right. In situations like this, women were almost always seen as the victims.
If people found them, they would assume he was assaulting Lynn. No one would believe she was the aggressor.
That's why she was so fearless.
"You'd better serve me well tonight. Afterward, I'll take you gambling. I'll show you what heaven on earth really is."
As she spoke, the cloying sweetness in her expression vanished, replaced by an icy chill. Nolan had crossed a line.
