Watching them walk shoulder to shoulder into the company elevator, Lynn froze. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. It felt as if her world had collapsed in an instant.

She had never imagined Jesse would betray her. He had once loved her with such passion and persistence. How could his heart have change?

Lynn ran to a bathroom stall, covered her face, and sobbed her heart out.

That night, she hired a private investigator to look into Jesse and the woman. It turned out Jesse had been with his mistress shortly after her first miscarriage. The other woman was a full fifteen years younger than him, and they had been living together since she was in college.

Jesse and the woman already had two children, and she was pregnant with their third, due in two months.

When Lynn found out, she was numb with pain. If the evidence hadn't been laid out in front of her, she would never have believed Jesse could betray her.

A week later, Jesse stormed home, furious. "Did you hire someone to investigate the kids at their school? Huh?" The man who hadn't been home in nearly a year was now screaming at her for his mistress.

But she couldn't let it go. Why should she let the other woman have it easy? As long as she and Jesse were legally married, that woman would always be a mistress who could never be seen in public.
