"What happened?" Julius's voice was low, but his sharp gaze was fixed on Janina.
Yvonne sobbed, "I... I just wanted to make peace with Miss Holt, but then she... she suddenly threw hot water on me..."
The cold water hit her skin, and the searing pain made Yvonne let out a pained whimper. "It hurts..."
Her voice was weak and trembling.
"Just hold on."
Julius's eyes were filled with concern. He handled her hand gently, afraid of causing her more pain.
"Yvonne, lying will get you struck by lightning. You burned yourself, and now you're blaming me? A leopard can't change its spots!" Janina retorted as soon as she heard the accusation.
She cradled her belly, still shaken from the incident. Yvonne was shameless, trying to hurt her and ending up hurting herself. Serves her right!
She was alone today and in no position for a prolonged fight. She would settle this score with Yvonne later. With that thought, she turned to leave.
"Stop!" Julius's cold command came from behind her.
Janina snorted. "What gives you the right to order me around?"
"You hurt Yvonne, and you're just going to walk away like that? Huh?"
At that moment, Julius was utterly disappointed in Janina. She had injured Yvonne, offered no apology, and had even resorted to insults. She had really changed.
"She burned herself. Believe it or not."
She had no interest in dealing with this toxic pair. She tossed the words over her shoulder and strode toward the door.
Seeing her about to leave, Julius let go of Yvonne and took two large steps to block her path. Mindful of her pregnancy, he restrained the urge to grab her arm. His eyes were blazing with anger.
"Janina, you burned Yvonne and won't even say sorry. And this attitude? She's already battling a terminal illness, yet you're so cruel, finding ways to torment her. We're divorced. Why can't you just leave her alone?"
