Julius dabbed his mouth elegantly with a napkin. He then casually picked up a magazine from the table with his left hand and started flipping through it.
Without even lifting his eyes, he answered, "I was at Luxor with some friends."
After saying that, he seemed to notice Janina's odd mood and finally looked up to meet her gaze. "What's wrong?"
He frowned slightly. Janina's question gave him the uncomfortable feeling of being checked up on.
Hearing that Julius had been at Luxor last night, Janina felt a wave of relief.
Luxor was a bar she had been to once. The smell of perfume inside was overwhelming, and she hadn't liked the atmosphere.
She had never gone back.
It seemed the scent on his clothes was just from the bar, not from another woman!
He was generous with her, willing to spend money on her, and always gave her expensive gifts on holidays.
During their time together, there had never been any rumors or scandals involving him.
How could a husband like that cheat on her?
Janina broke into a smile.
She thought she must be getting overly sensitive because of the pregnancy, to even have such a ridiculous idea.
Janina decided to tell Julius her news.
"Honey, I have to tell you something..."
Just as Janina began to speak, Julius's phone, sitting on the table, rang.
He answered it.
"Hello?"
She couldn't hear what the person on the other end said, but Julius's expression instantly grew serious. He stood up from his chair.
"I'll be right there."
Julius hung up, strode over to the sofa, and grabbed his jacket.
Without a second thought, she slipped on her slippers and ran out the door.
She decided to follow him and find out just who the woman on the phone was.
To avoid raising any suspicion, Janina didn't take the car from the garage. Instead, she walked out to the gate of their residential community and hailed a taxi.
As luck would have it, a cab was dropping someone off right as she got there.
The passenger got out, and Janina immediately jumped in.
Just as she settled in, she saw Julius's car emerge from the underground garage.
"Sir, follow that car, please." Janina said from the back seat, pointing at Julius's vehicle.
The driver glanced at Janina in the rearview mirror. Seeing her in loungewear, without any makeup, his years of experience told him exactly what was going on.
He was more than happy to help in these situations, ready to show off his skills and get the job done.
"You got it, miss. Don't you worry, I guarantee I won't lose him," the driver said with a confident smile.
