Because Janina needed to rest, only Maggie and Natalie remained in the room to look after her.
Grace went home to make some nourishing soup for Janina.
With too many people in the room, the others went about their business.
Once the room was quiet, Janina tried to push the thoughts of New Vista Medical Center from her mind. She looked at Maggie and said, "Can you ask the nurse if I can see the babies? If visitation is allowed, could you go see them for me?"
Right now, all she wanted was to see her babies, even just a picture.
"Okay, I'll go ask right now," Maggie understood immediately. She would be sure to take plenty of photos of the two babies.
Janina closed her eyes to rest.
Natalie sat quietly by the bed, watching over Janina and keeping an eye on the IV drip.
After a short while, a familiar voice came from the hallway.
"Julius, I don't want to be hospitalized. My body is already like this, it's useless."
Janina, who was just about to fall asleep, immediately tensed up.
Yvonne!!
"You have to listen to the doctor. He said it's best for you to stay for observation. Don't worry, we'll find a donor," a man's deep voice replied.
It was Julius.
What were they doing here?
This was the maternity ward. Even if Yvonne needed hospital care, she shouldn't have been brought here.
Janina's expression froze, her eyes fixed on the doorway. Her hands gripped the blanket tightly. The thought that Yvonne might be connected to what happened at New Vista sent a chill down her spine.
"What's wrong, sis?" Natalie asked, noticing her tense expression, and rushed to her bedside.
"I quit. The boss gave me the quarterly bonus anyway," Natalie said with a relaxed expression.
"Sis, just focus on getting better. Don't worry about my stuff. Now, don't say another word. You've just had surgery and you need to rest," Natalie said, pulling the blanket up higher, signaling for Janina to stop talking and rest.
Janina closed her mouth, accepting the love from her family. She was truly exhausted. All she wanted was to sleep.
She lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, and slowly closed her eyes.
Julius took Yvonne to ask where the nephrology department was.
After getting directions, they were about to leave when he overheard two nurses talking.
"Last night was terrifying. That pregnant woman almost died on the operating table. She was covered in blood when she came in, unconscious. I really thought she wasn't going to make it."
"I know, right? It's a miracle she delivered the babies safely. She's so lucky. She was in critical condition several times. I went to see the babies. Even though they're preemies, they're so beautiful."
