"Julius, after this is settled, let's get a divorce," Janina added immediately. "No need for an agreement. Just bring your documents and the marriage certificate, and we'll go straight to the courthouse."
He was supposed to sign the divorce agreement today, but what if he signed it and then dragged his feet on making it official? She couldn't afford to waste any more time. The baby couldn't wait, and she wanted nothing more to do with Julius. She just wanted to be free of him as soon as possible. A quick divorce was the most important thing now.
As for the assets… if she had to, she would compromise.
The police arrived quickly. Janina handed over the video she had filmed.
Half an hour later, the truth came out. The video was raw, untouched. It was clear now: the wrist-cutting, the fall down the stairs, all of it was a performance staged by Yvonne herself.
Furthermore, Yvonne's taunts and provocations in the video made two things crystal clear: one, she was framing Janina, and two, she was in love with Julius.
Once the matter was clarified, the police couldn't do much more. It was a domestic dispute, and no permanent harm had been done. They gave Yvonne and Julius a stern talking-to and left.
After the police departed, Janina and Maggie also prepared to leave.
Before walking out, Janina repeated her demand: they should go get the divorce certificate immediately.
Julius was still reeling from the video's revelation. "Let's sign the agreement first," he said weakly. "I'll get it to you tomorrow."
Hearing him finally agree to sign, Janina felt a small measure of relief. It meant there was still room to negotiate the assets.
Janina wanted to say that no amount of begging or remorse from Julius would make her forgive him, but she couldn't resist Maggie's persuasion.
Fine. Let's see how he handles Yvonne.
Yvonne's voice drifted from the room. "Julius, I honestly went to apologize to Miss Holt. I only said those things to provoke her a little. She's your wife, but she's never satisfied and always gives you the cold shoulder. I couldn't stand it, so I just wanted to say a few things to make her jealous."
"I cut my wrist because she hit me. I couldn't fight back, so I thought I could scare her off by hurting myself. But she wasn't scared. I panicked, I was afraid she was going to hurt me, so I grabbed her. But then I lost my footing… my foot slipped, and I fell."
"Julius, I'm telling the truth, trust me… "
