Abandoned by All I Took It All Back novel Chapter 478

Janina quickly grabbed his arm.

"Hold on, Easton. You're the eldest. It's understandable that Mom and Dad are anxious. Why do you think we all came back to the countryside for the holidays? It's all about settling your futures. Just talk to them calmly later."

Her second and fourth brothers were already on their way home and would likely arrive late, but as long as they made it before the New Year, it was fine.

Janina had heard from her parents that all four of her brothers were scheduled for matchmaking meetings this year.

Easton stopped, his dark lashes lowered. "I already have someone I like," he said softly.

"Is it Summer?" Janina pressed immediately.

Easton turned to meet his sister's gaze, confronting his own feelings head-on for the first time.

He nodded firmly. "Yes, you're right. But I…"

"But I'm not worthy. She's so accomplished, well-educated, a famous author… and I'm just a rough guy who knows how to farm. Nina, I know what you're trying to do, trying to set us up, but real love has to be mutual. It's about admiring each other, not forcing something that isn't there. Please, don't bring this up again. It'll just make things awkward for everyone."

For the first time, he had voiced the deepest secret hidden in his heart.

He didn't even know when he had started to like Summer.

Maybe it was that time he had a fever and accidentally touched her hand.

Or maybe it was the pang he felt in his heart when he saw she had cut her finger…

The feelings had quietly sprouted and grown into an overwhelming forest.

He couldn't stop himself from thinking about her, missing her, liking her.

But he knew his place.

She was the brightest, most beautiful star in the night sky.

Untouchable.

Meant to be admired from afar.

After a moment's thought, Janina said, "I just had a chat with Summer, and we talked about you. Do you want to know what she said?"

At her words, Easton's eyes met his sister's for a second before darting away again.

He hesitated.

He desperately wanted to know what Summer had said about him.

But he was also afraid…

"What did you two talk about?" It took him a long moment to force the words out.

"She said you're like the sun in the sky—noble, warm, and untouchable. Easton, I've delivered the message. What you do next is up to you."

Janina left it at that. She didn't say another word as she got up and left the room.

This was a matter of the heart, and as an outsider, she shouldn't get too involved.
