REMI POV

I stormed through the halls. Abel was calling behind me but I didn’t care.

“Remi wait. Let me explain-

“Explain what? That my husband is marrying someone else?”

“It’s not like that—”

“Then what IS it like?” I spun on him. “Because from where I’m standing it looks like I’m being replaced.”

“You need to calm down-

“Don’t TELL me to calm down.”

Servants scattered when they saw me coming. Pressed themselves against walls. Good. Let them scatter.

I turned a corner and saw guards ahead. Two of them standing outside massive doors.

This had to be it.

“Remi please.” Abel tried again. “At least let me prepare you-

“I don’t NEED preparation. I need ANSWERS.”

I marched toward the guards. Expected them to stop me.

They didn’t.<

Just stepped aside.

“The alpha has been expecting you,” one said.

Of course he was.

“Remi-“Abel grabbed my arm. The alpha is… look just…” He ran his hand through his hair. “Fuck. I’m outta here. I’m not dealing with Nero and his feisty mate today.”

He left. Actually LEFT.

Fine. I didn’t need him anyway.

I pushed the doors open.

The room was MASSIVE. Not a room. A whole wing. Dark wood floors. Floor to ceiling windows. A bed the size of a small house.

But empty.

“Nero?” I called.

No answer.

I walked further in. Past a sitting area. Past a desk covered in papers. Where the fuck was he?

“I thought I asked you to wait in my chambers.” Nero’s voice. Anoyed. “Where have you been? Why did you make me wait?”

I heard His voice. From the left.

Then I heard it. Water. Running water.

I followed the sound through another doorway into a bathroom that was bigger than my entire cottage in Riverside.

And there he was.. Completely naked.

Nero was in a bath. But not a normal bath.

This thing was HUGE. Marble. Built into the floor. Big enough for three people.

And he was in it. Completely naked.

Water up to his waist. Arms stretched along the edges. Head tilte back.

Everything above it was visible. His chest. His abs. The V of his hips disappearing into water.

Watching me. I froze

He looked at me. Raised an eyebrow.

“Well?” he said. “Are you going to stand there staring or are you going to explain yourself?”

My mouth was dry. I tried to speak. Nothing came out.

“Stop drooling on my floor,” he said

I closed my mouth. “I wasn’t-”

“You were“..He didn’t move. Just watched. “I asked Abel to bring you to my chambers. To wait for me there. Not storm through my palace like you own it.”

“Maybe I should own it. Since apparently everyone else knows more about my life than I do.”

“Is that so?”

“And I’m going to start having to punish you for every disobedience.” He sat up. Water sloshed. “You’re very bad at following orders.”

My mouth was dry. Because I could see ALL of him now.

Oh my GOD, Parrot moaned. Another thirst trap. Why does he O this to us?

“I don’t care about your rules,” I managed. “Or whatever dom–sub thing you have going on. That’s not why I’m here.”

“Then why ARE you here?”

“I was told about preparations for the new Luna,” I crossed my ans. “I had a very interesting conversation. About you getting married to your REAL Luna. So tell me Alpha Nero. What am I?”

“It’s true.”

The words hit like a punch.

I couldn’t breathe. “You’re serious.”

“I what?” He stood up.

I should look away. Should focus on my anger.
