"Just a little more, the doctor will be here any moment now and we’ll know the next way out," Gregory said to his wife. He sat next to his wife. Even though she smelled badly, he still endured.

Abby would do the same for him. So why wouldn’t he care for her?

"How long Greg, I’m dying in pain. The pain is unbearable." Abby bit out. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Just a little more. Chris is talking to them." Just as Greg finished speaking, Chris stepped into the room.

"They’re on their way." He said calmly. Greg understood his son’s silence and led him to the next room. He knew they were coming wasn’t the only thing Chris must have heard.

"What did they say, Chris?" Gregory asked once they were out of the room.

"The doctor asked me about the state of her injury and when I told him, he said the only solution was amputation. But he hopes it hasn’t gotten further from how it was and that her legs are not already infected since she hasn’t taken any treatment yet."

Gregory turned silent because everything the doctor had feared was exactly what was wrong with his wife. The bacteria had eaten deep in her legs. Deeper than it was a few weeks back.

Gregory was afraid Abby’s legs were already infected. The wound has been left exposed like that without any treatment for days now. It would be a miracle if it wasn’t already infected.

"What do we do, I think it’s infected already." Greg finally aired out his thoughts.

"Of course it is. That’s why she smells. I hope everything goes well Father. I hope it hasn’t got worse than it seems."

"Ahhhh... Oh oh oh oh Help me please!" Abby screamed from the pain she felt and both people rushed in to help her.

Other times, when she felt so much pain, it would go away for a few hours and then start again, but this time, it was too much to bear.

"Are you alright mother?" Chris asked but Abby only cried more. She was dying. The pain has become too much for her.

"Chris, if anything happens to me. Find any way you can to kill that madman. That’s the only way you can live freely on earth. I’m sorry I had to put you through such a harsh life." Abby managed, panting gently.

"You’re not dying anytime soon mother. The doctors are almost here. Just hold on a little bit." Chris said calmly, but Abby shook her head. She had no idea she would be dying anytime soon, but here she was.

She was going to die without fulfilling anything she wanted to. She wouldn’t see her grandchildren just as she had planned.

All these wouldn’t be happening if she hadn’t agreed to that man’s plans that day. They wouldn’t have been kicked out of the Adkins mansion and Chris wouldn’t be running for his life right now.

All she thought about was what people had to say about them. No look at where that has brought her to.

When the doctor finally arrived Chris and Greg had left the room to Abby’s screams as he examined her.

They waited a couple of minutes and then he was finally out.

"How is she doing doctor?" Both men rushed towards him and the man sighed.

"I had initiated the amputation long before now, why did you hesitate to comply?" He asked.

"Like I said before, Miss Peterson has a sickness whose cure is yet to be found. It would take a miracle for her to survive like this and a miracle for her to live after the amputation." He said.

"The open skin caused by the excessive scratching has been infected with bacteria. She needs care now more than ever." He said.

"How do we get the leg cut off before further problems occur again?" Gregory asked.

"She’ll be admitted to the hospital today and we’ll continue the treatment from there." Chris frowned at the man’s words.

Everything happening to his mother is the Madman’s fault. Not only had they been chased from their rightful home, but he could no longer work to assist his family anymore all because of a stupid bounty in his head.

He needed to visit the madman. He knew every corner of the mansion, he’d do a clean job.
