ACCIDENTALLY MARRIED TO THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD (Gabrielle and Damon) novel Chapter 155

CHAPTER 155

GABRIELLE’S POV

ONE WEEK LATER

Oh, and I want either a destination wedding or a honeymoon somewhere secluded and private,I went on for what had to be the tenth time that morning.

Damon tilted his head slightly like he was considering it. Yeah. You’ve said thathow many times now?

I groaned and fell back against the car seat. I just want everything to go right. We never had a wedding.

For the past week, Damon had been recovering surprisingly fast.

I had a feeling it was mostly because he hated hospitals and wanted to leave as soon as possible.

He was discharged a few days ago, and we were staying at one of the houses on Rhys’s estate.

Fiorella had stopped by that morning to check on himand to tell us about her plans to open a restaurant here in Italy.

I would miss her when we returned home, but she had always loved living here and there was nothing I could do to convince her

otherwise.

But I want the wedding after I give birth so I can get drunk that day,I said, reaching for the snack basket in the back seat. Where are we going?

Damon insisted we always had a snack basket with us now because of my cravings.

I couldn’t blame him though.

Rhys didn’t like the idea of living with staff, so Damon had been the one driving out late at night to get me sour candy.

I’m afraid I’ll jinx it if I tell you,he said, his eyes flickering between the road and my chest.

I followed his gaze and looked down to see my nipples were very clearly poking through my shirt.

We hadn’t been intimate since before the shooting, and I had started to miss the way he looked at me when he wanted me.

Slowly, he tugged the loose cardigan I was wearing a little closer around me. Cover yourself.

I raised an eyebrow. Why?

Because I’m driving.

That’s not an answer.

His jaw tightened slightly, but there was amusement in his voice when he said, Because I’d rather not crash this car.

A smile tugged at my lips.

I leaned back in my seat again, watching him.

Even after everything that had happenedthe shooting, the hospital, the stresshe still looked impossibly handsome and composed behind the wheel.

But the way his fingers kept tapping lightly against the steering wheel told me he wasn’t as calm as he pretended.

Are you okay?

His eyes flicked to me. Yes.

A oneword reply but at least it wasn’t a nothis time.

Damon.

He sighed the way he always did when he realized I wasn’t going to drop something.

I still feel pain when I move,he admitted. That’s all. I promise I’m fine.

My hand slid over to rest on his arm. You seem like you’ve got a lot on your mind too.

He glanced at me again, his expression softening. Yes, I do. I know I have a lot of work waiting for me. And there’s this deal I need to close as soon as possible.

My heart broke.

My poor baby was so stressed.

I undid my seat belt and leaned closer to him, my hand caressing his chest.

Well then,I whispered, let me take your mind off that.

Damon’s hand tightened slightly on the steering wheel. His eyes were still on the road but his body was already leaning towards

Fuck,he cursed.

I smiled slowly as I whispered, “Just relax and let me take care of you.

Then I leaned down and took him deep in my mouth, right there in the middle of traffic until he came down my throat.

Damon finally parked the car in front of an old but expensivelooking building.

I wiped the corner of my mouth with a paper towel. Where is this?

He didn’t respond.

I turned to find him staring at me.

Demon?

His gaze held mine. Yes?

Why are you staring at me like that?I asked.

His hand reached out to my face, his thumb brushing slowly over my cheek. Because you’re beautiful. And because of what you just did.

I bit my lower lip instinctively, feeling heat rush through my body. I wanted to do it again just to hear him say that one more

time.

He got out of the car, walked over to my side, and opened the door for me. Careful, wife.

I took his hand and alighted the car.

The place looked old but elegant, and it seemed like the kind of building that had probably stood there for decades.

Ivy dimbed along the stone walls, and tall windows reflected the afternoon sunlight.

I glanced up at it, confused. Damonwhere are we?

He didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he laced his fingers through mine and gently guided me toward the entrance.

Patience,he said.

His thumb brushed lightly over the back of my hand as we walked up the short flight of steps.

A man standing near the door nodded respectfully when he saw Damon, as if he had been expecting us.

Damon pushed the double doors open and stepped aside, letting me walk in first.

The moment I crossed the threshold, I froze.

The inside was breathtaking

Sunlight poured through tall windows, illuminating polished marble floors and soft golden chandeliers hanging from the high ceiling

A sweeping staircase curved elegantly toward the upper level.

It looked less like a house and more like something out of a dream.

I slowly turned in a circle, taking it all in.

DamonI breathed.

He was watching me closely, his expression quiet and almost nervous.

Which was rare for him.

What is this place?

He stepped closer, his hand resting gently on the small of my back. It was where we lived before Father became who he was.

My eyes widened. This is where you wanted to bring me before you got shot.

My eyes almost teared up at that

I understood what he meant.

I glanced up the sweeping staircase again, trying to imagine a younger Damon running through the halls.

It was almost impossible.

Come,he said, pulling me up the stairs. I want to show you my old room. But promise not to laugh at me.

I started laughing immediately even though he hadn’t shown me his old room yet.

He gave me a flat look. Really? You can’t even wait?

That made me laugh even harder.

He pulled me closer, his hand on my back as we walked up the staircase.

We walked through a hallway and stopped by the last room on the left.

The door creaked softly as it opened.

I stepped inside firstand then stopped,

The room was large, but it still carried the unmistakable feeling of a boy’s space that had simply grown older with time.

A wide bed stood against one wall, neatly made with dark blue sheets.

Across from it was a tall bookshelf filled with old toys, school books, and a few worn notebooks that looked like they had been opened a thousand times,

Near the window sat a desk.

Sunlight streamed across it, illuminating faint scratches on the woodmarks that looked like they had been made years ago.

My gaze moved slowly around the room.

There were framed photos on the dresser.

He glanced around the space before looking back at me. Yes. And before Anya called us back.

I was surprised

But the pleasant feeling died down instantly.

Don’t you have a lot of traumatic memories of this place?I asked, my voice low.

No, not this house,he answered. Our family was still a normal one when we lived here. In hindsight, I see it’s because Father wasn’t home a lot. Just me, my mother, and my sister.

My heart squeezed painfully in my chest.

I still didn’t dare to ask him about his sister because I was still recovering from the shock of his past.
