Chapter 6
GABRIELLE’S POV
The video got cut off and Father stood up, holding a microphone.
“The event’s over,” he said, his eyes darting between me and Emily. “Please go home.”

The gossip got louder as the guests scrambled to the door. They threw glances at Emily and Jared, some at the man standing beside me.
“Dad,” Emily started as the door shut. “I can explain.”
Father held his hand out. “By the time I get back you’ll be receiving your punishments. As for you, Damon, let’s speak in private.”
Then he walked out with Damon following after throwing me a wink.
Screw that man.
I turned to my twin. “I couldn’t believe my own eyes. Why Emily? What did I ever do to you? You were my best friend.”
She rolled her eyes. “Oh, please. Don’t act like this is sudden. You’ve had it coming for a long time.”
My eyes watered. “You’ve hated me this whole time?”
Her lips curved into a cruel smile. “Hate is a strong word, sister. Let’s just say I got tired of living in your shadow.”
I blinked, my voice cracking. “My shadow? Emily, I never-”
“Oh, but you did,” she cut in, her tone harsh. “You were perfect Gabrielle. The golden daughter and Dad’s favorite. You got the attention, the praise, and the bigger trust fund. I was just the other twin. The one no one noticed unless they mistook me for you.”
My chest tightened. “That’s not true.”
“It is,” she hissed, stepping closer. “You just never noticed because you were too busy basking in it. Every achievement you made, every time he looked at you with pride, it was another reminder that I’d never be enough.”
I shook my head, tears sliding down my cheeks. “So you betrayed me? Over jealousy?”
Her smile venomous widened. “No, dear sister. I betrayed you to finally feel something. To finally watch you fall for once.”
I stared at her, unable to breathe. “You’re not the sister I grew up with.”
She tilted her head, mockingly gentle, “No. I’m the one you helped create. Tell ine, sister. How does it feel to know the man you love would never love you because he’s in love with me?”
My fist clenched at my side as I turned to my ex–fiancé “And you tried to use me for my inheritance, I did absolutely nothing to you.”
Jared wrapped his arm around Emily’s waist. “Don’t act like a saint, Gabrielle. You were easy and desperate for a happy ever after. You believed every word I said and made it simple for me to fool you.”
“You disgust me,” I said quietly.

He scoffed. “You really think you’re worthy of love? You were nothing and you’ll always be nothing. You’re so desperate for love that you paid Damon Gravari of all monsters to pretend to be your husband.”
Emily laughed. “That’s a good one, Jared. You’ll never have Jared so you settled for that monster.”
My tears threatened to spill but I held it back, refusing to give them that satisfaction. “What do you mean?”
“Everyone knows who Damon is,” Jared smirked. “He’s a very dangerous man. At least I only wanted your money. That man would take your life as well.”
They burst into another fit of laughter.
The tears I was trying to hold back fell freely down my cheeks.
“Awww, the bitch is crying,” Emily said with a fake sympathetic voice. “That’s what you deserve.”
My voice broke as I spoke. “You were sleeping with my sister… while planning our wedding.”
He shrugged. “It wasn’t personal. It was business. I’ve always loved Emily. You were just a business investment.”
“Yes, the plan was to marry you for a few months until we got what we wanted then Jared would dump you and marry me,” Emily said.
My mind went back to the wedding preparations. Emily helping me pick my wedding dress, making jokes about how perfect the lace looked on me, and how Jared wouldn’t be able to take his eyes off me.
Every laugh we shared, every compliment she gave me, it had all been part of their plan.
My sister folded her arms. “Don’t act so shocked. You were too blind to notice anything anyway. You were always too trusting, and so naïve.”
Jared smirked. “You really thought you had it all, didn’t you? The love, the money, and the perfect man. Turns out you were just the easiest one to fool.”
“And even if we couldn’t get your inheritance, the look on your face now is enough reward,” Emily said as they burst into another fit of laughter.
My father’s voice cut through the tension. “That’s enough.”
We turned to the door and he was standing there with the cops. But Damon wasn’t with him.
He glared at Jared. “You used my daughter and stole from my company. You’ll pay for that.”
Jared froze, his face pale. “Father, please-”
“Don’t call me that,” Father snapped. “You disgust me. Take him away.”
Jared tried to plead as the cops dragged him out but Father’s mind was made up
“Dad, please,” my twin begged “I love him Arrest me in his place.”
He faced Emily. “And you… how could you do this to your own sister? To me? Everything I built, you’ve dragged it through
the mud.”
Tears filled her eyes. “Dad. I only wanted-
