“Hey, good morning,” I said to Hailey as I entered her room. The night had been very hard for me. I was consumed by many thoughts, including the way I had responded to Madeline. And whenever I thought about my daughter’s face, I felt as if my world stopped. There was also this burning feeling inside me, almost like something was telling me that I had done something wrong before. I could not understand what it was.
