I did not want to scare my children.

He looked at them and then nodded slowly, finally understanding that I needed time.

“All right. I will come by later, if that is okay,” when he said that, I did not respond. I focused on walking past him.

I had already texted my driver while I was in the meeting, when Eldon fuined everything, because I realized I would not be going home with him.

Luckily, the car pulled up at the right time. I focused on getting my children into the car.

My hands shook slightly, but I stayed calm enough to help them climb inside.

Only after closing the door behind them did I breathe out.

Graham still stood in the same spot watching us, waiting for something from me, but I had nothing to tell him.

I had nothing to give him. I was still shaken from everything that had happened.
