A few days ago, I had arrived at Elgin's pack for work.

But the real reason was that I wanted to get my hands on his phone and delete the video.

The moment I arrived, he was standing at the doorway, almost as if he had been waiting for me.

"Hi," he greeted softly, smiling widely at me.

"Hello," I replied, sounding slightly annoyed.

I was also confused about how I was supposed to go from hating him to suddenly acting friendly.

I just could not bring myself to do it.

After how he had treated me and my sick daughter, I simply could not.

But I knew I had to.

"I'm so glad you came. I didn't know you would choose my pack to discuss what to do about the sickness next."

He continued speaking while I struggled with the sweat forming on my forehead.

"Are you hot? It's not even warm," he asked as he led me inside.

"No, I'm just not feeling well," I lied.

"Oh, then come and rest in the guest room. That is where we will discuss the problem. I will bring you some refreshments."

He gestured for me to sit and led me toward the guest room.

I started walking in that direction when I noticed Silver standing at the bottom of the stairs.

She was watching us but did not come closer.

I could already guess that Elgin had warned her to stay away from me.

But I knew that the moment he was out of sight, she would try to approach me and do what she always did, get under my nerves.

I entered the room and sat down.

He was holding his phone tightly in his hand.

My breath began to quicken at the sight of it.

"Mathew, can you please ask the servants to bring us some refreshments?" Elgin asked his royal beta, who had just entered the room.

The moment his royal beta looked at me, his jaw tightened.

I could not understand why, but the expression was very odd.

Most noticeable was the way he raised his eyebrow.

Then he turned and walked away.

It was a strange sight, but I decided not to think too much about it. Instead, I focused on Elgin.

Of course, I had chosen a single sofa so he would not try to sit beside me.

"You know, I have really been meaning to speak with you," he whispered.

"No, please wait. I'm really sorry. I won't annoy you again. Let's talk about it."

He spoke quickly, but I raised my hand toward him.

"No, I'm fine. I think I need to go."

I insisted as I stood from the couch and headed toward the door.

He called after me, but I rushed out.

Once I was outside near the car I had arrived in, Mathew came after me.

I turned around and noticed that Silver was blocking Elgin's path inside the mansion.

The two of them had already started another argument.

"You're leaving already?" Mathew asked.

I frowned at him.

"Yeah, I'm not feeling well," I replied.

"Well then, let me hold the door for you."

There was something odd about the way Mathew opened the door for me.

I slipped inside the car.

As it pulled away, I watched Mathew through the mirror.

He rubbed his hands together before storming toward one of his own cars.

And I began to wonder what he was going to do next.
