Ron:
I had received good news.
That night, after everything that had happened with Graham, he had exposed everything.
Thankfully, Graham’s acknowledgment had come out in front of everyone.
But it wasn’t just about Graham.
My lawyer came to meet me, the one Byron and Madeline had hired.
She told me that Lord Eldon had confessed before dying that he was the one who had killed my grandmother.
Honestly, hearing that made me furious. It didn’t bring me any relief.
Of course it didn’t. I wanted him alive so I could take revenge on him.
But now, what could be done? He was gone.
My lawyer told me I would be released the very next day because there was no reason to keep me locked up anymore.
Thankfully, everything had ended before the case even began.
Kind of justice was served. Kind of not.
I would have rather had him alive and suffering, but it was still better than nothing.
After my lawyer left, I sat there restlessly, thinking about what I would do first once I got out.
Of course, I would go to Yuvonne first.
How happy she would be to see me. And the moment I saw her, I would tell her that I was back now, that no one would hurt her anymore.
To be honest, I was so excited to see her. To hold her in my arms again and comfort her.
That was my plan.
She deserved it. She deserved my love.
That night was very difficult. But finally, morning came.
I hadn’t slept for even a second.
"So you’re leaving?"
The old man who had always supported me came over as I received my clothes from the warrior who had asked me to change so they could escort me out.
"Yeah, the real culprit confessed," I muttered, then bit my tongue. "But he—-"
"He died," the old man commented. He must have overheard me earlier.
"Don’t worry. He will be suffering in the afterlife, so don’t dwell on it. At least his memory is gone. His son is in the news too. They’ve been completely ruined." he began to soothe my aching soul.
"To think those Alphas were trying to take over so many packs, as if they thought they could decide how many heirs they would have…..it’s almost funny."
The old man was right.
They were just ridiculous people who thought every decision they made was the right one, as if they controlled how their lives would unfold.
"Anyway, when I get out, I’ll make sure you get out too. What happened wasn’t your fault," I said, pulling him into a hug.
He looked like he was in disbelief, probably because no one had ever thought about him like that.
But I wasn’t someone who forgot kindness.
