After speaking with Baxter and making the plan for me to play the good guy and show President Sawyer that I was on his side, I decided to visit him.

I'd had Baxter write a fake letter. By fake, I meant everything in it was false.

It was meant to throw Sawyer off a little.

The guards looked at each other before one of them gestured for me to wait.

It wasn't like I could leave.

I began looking around anxiously. I didn't know why, but the anxiety kept building inside me.

With every passing minute, I worried more about Livia.

At the same time, I had to make things right. There was a little kid who needed to be reunited with her father.

The guard came back and gestured towards the main gate.

"Go inside and wait in the entrance guest room. Only go in when you're called," the guard instructed.

I gave him a nod.

I carried my bag over one shoulder, fidgeting as I curled the fingers of one hand around the strap in an attempt to calm my anxiety.

I stepped inside, looking at all the cars in the garage. They seemed to be brand new.

President Sawyer had woken up and decided to go back to his old ways.

He had caught up with the newer models, I could tell.

I mean, his reputation spoke for itself. He was a ruthless, cold man.

He never put anyone above himself or his own happiness.

If there was one thing he liked, and perhaps even loved, if possession could be called love, it was Madeline, his first wife.
