There was something about Sawyer.

The more I looked at him, the more uneasy I felt.

When he had arrived, my wolf had acted strangely, as though he knew him.

There was a strange sense of guilt in my wolf's voice whenever he spoke about Sawyer.

Then there was another problem.

For someone who was so openly vicious and hated almost everyone, my wolf didn't hate Sawyer with the same intensity.

He barely ever lashed out at him.

My jaw clenched, my eyes fixed on Sawyer, my body ready to step in for her.

"We need to get closer to the stage," I murmured to Daniel.

He gulped, looking back at Livia before meeting my eyes again.

It was obvious from Daniel's body language that he was deeply worried about Livia.

This was the same person she had mocked, even if it had been unintentional, she had truly hurt him.

I couldn't understand how someone could hurt another person so deeply.

Without caring about himself, the moment he saw her, he headed straight toward the stage.

I moved beside him.

"Stay right there! Don't you dare come any closer to our president!" a guard shouted, pointing a finger at us.

Sawyer raised his hand, signaling for the guard to calm down.

"It's okay. He should come to the stage, because this is where he'll be arrested," Sawyer remarked, sounding as cocky as ever.

From his body language, though, I could tell he was sweating.

Clear drops of sweat ran down from his temples.

That was proof that he had noticed something was changing in his body too.

"Come on, quick. Let's get it over with," Sawyer urged, motioning for his men to come forward with a curl of his fingers.
