Rosetta:
I had been restless ever since Byron left. I couldn't think clearly for even a moment.
It had only been a few hours, but every second felt heavy on my heart.
Then, finally, Yuvonne and Ron returned.
I heard them arrive and immediately asked Ron what had happened. He started to smile.
"It was amazing. Sit down. Let me tell you everything," Ron said, gesturing for me to sit on the living room couch.
Yuvonne was happily moving around, gathering food before coming to sit with us.
I, however, had a lot on my mind.
They told me the good news: my sister's husband was alive, her child was alive, and my sister was living a very happy life. Her husband was now the president.
"Oh, so Kaylee thinks they're going on a vacation, somewhere she's going to marry him?" I asked Ron after he told me everything.
He nodded while I pouted.
"Yeah, that's cool," I commented.
After hearing everything, I was incredibly happy for my sister.
"But don't worry. Byron is not going to get cozy with Nina," Yuvonne said as she sat down with us.
"All right. I wasn't thinking about it anyway," I said awkwardly, looking down.
The problem was that even when Byron tried to comfort me, I just couldn't stop thinking about it.
At the end of the day, he only liked me because I looked like my sister.
Thankfully, my sister had her husband back in her life. I could only imagine how happy she must have been.
"We have good news for you too," Ron said, exchanging a glance with Yuvonne as if asking whether he should tell me now.
"Well, tell me quickly," I commented.
"We met your mother. We also met your other sister."
I went silent for a second, staring at their faces.
"Sorry, what?"
I thought I hadn't heard them correctly.
"Your mother is in the human world. Dr. Livia, the new head researcher, is your sister. They've all reunited, and they can't wait to be with you."
Ron's words felt like a door opening to heaven.
I kept staring at them until a hiccup escaped me. Then I tried to hold back my tears.
"That's amazing," I said, discreetly wiping away a tear.
"You don't have to hide your tears, you know. It's okay to cry because after this, you won't have any reason to cry anymore," Yuvonne said, holding my hand.
"Okay, everyone. Friday night has been decided. The seven days Sawyer had asked for will be over by then. I really hope we win this time," I said.
Ron, Yuvonne, and I stood together in a triangle, holding out our hands like we were preparing for war. We clasped hands and shook on it.
I was determined to get rid of Sawyer and Eugenia so that my sister could return, and then we could see where things went from there.
After discussing everything with them, I went back to my room to rest for a while.
I had barely sat down on the bed when I felt something under the pillow.
Sliding my hand underneath it, I felt something cold along with a piece of paper.
When I pulled them out, I realized it was a pendant, and not just any pendant. It was one Byron used to wear around his neck.
I immediately opened the letter.
I know you have a lot going through your mind, and I know that no matter what I say, you're never going to be convinced.
But trust me, I won't stop until I convince you of my love, until you realize that I love you for who you are.
So don't think I'm going to give up.
Even when all the other missions are over, this will remain my mission."
I stared at the letter before clutching it to my chest and crying.
