Then more werewolves began coming over for discussions.

It was a whole mess.

All I knew was that seeing Alpha Byron here wasn't much of a shock anymore. The werewolves had found their way onto human land.

I mean, it was kind of expected.

When we sent the lycan over there, we should have known this would happen. Eventually, the werewolves would grow afraid of the lycan and start migrating, looking for ways to join forces with more powerful people so they could reclaim their land from him.

As for me, I was happy.

It felt like I had been blessed with an alpha because of what a lycan had done to me.

All my life, I had loved Sawyer. My father helped that ungrateful man, and when the time came, Sawyer used him. He overthrew my father and punished him in the worst way possible.

So Sawyer got what he deserved, and I got what I deserved too: my own mate. An alpha.

I came home to find Byron walking out of the bathroom with a towel hanging low around his waist, and I nearly lost it.

This man was godly.

He was my mate, and he had told me that he'd fallen in love with me the moment he saw me.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know you'd be naked," I said, turning around and biting my bottom lip.

"It's all right. We're mates anyway."

The confidence in his voice was incredible.

"And if I'd known you were coming over, I wouldn't have even bothered with the towel."

The way he flirted was shameless yet confident, and paired with his looks, it was an amazing combination.

I stood there while he got dressed.

"You know, I have a little secret to confess. Things I've never told anyone."

I anxiously rubbed my hands together.

"I have a wolf. Even though it's crippled and I can never transition, I just wanted you to know that your wife isn't completely human."

I immediately covered my lips with both hands, suddenly feeling strange.

"My wife. I like the sound of that," he murmured seductively from behind me, making me blush.

"So, are you taking me somewhere?" he asked.

"Yeah, so they'll probably be leaving for werewolf territory for a while. That means the position here will be completely open. Since the new president overthrew the old president, and you can take over as the new one," I said excitedly.

Byron tilted his head and frowned.

"Isn't there some kind of process for becoming president? Elections or something?" he questioned.

He was already impressing me with how quickly he caught on.

"No, no, no. Those rules changed a long time ago. Now, all you really need are the keys and the official stamps, and you're pretty much good to go," I explained.

Byron leaned back slightly.

"And you think the president is just going to leave the stamps and keys behind?" he asked, rolling up his sleeves.

My eyes immediately dropped to his arms.

Those biceps were enormous.

Perfect.

"Well, if you're an alpha, then you're mated to a genius," I commented, immediately feeling heat rise to my cheeks as he narrowed his eyes and smirked at my confidence.

"I have the stamp and the keys."

The moment I told him, shock flashed across his face before giving way to pride. He looked genuinely impressed.

"And you asked where I'm taking you today? I'm taking you to my father. He's the one who has the stamp and the keys," I finished, watching Byron light up as everything seemed to fall perfectly into our favor.
