Aaron took the lead on bedtime stories, sitting on the edge of Adrian’s bed and reading about brave knights and fairytale lands.

I leaned against the doorframe, watching them. Seeing Aaron’s large hand resting gently on our son’s small shoulder made my chest ache with sweetness and adoration.

Eventually, Adrian’s breathing evened out, his stuffed dinosaur tucked under his arm.

We tiptoed out of the room together, closing the door with a soft careful click that left us standing in the dim light of the hallway.

The house settled into its quiet night sound.

I turned to head toward the master bedroom, but I only made it wo steps before Aaron’s hand caught my arm. I stopped, looking up at him.

I gasped, arching into him, my heart hammering a frantic beat against my ribs.

“Aaron… the door.”

He reached back and locked it without breaking contact, then lifted me effortlessly. I wrapped my legs around his waist, clinging to him as we made our way to the bed.

Clothes were shed in the shadows-his shirt tossed aside, my top pulled over my head, and my shorts sliding down until there was nothing left between us but the night air.

When we hit the mattress, the cool sheets only lasted for a second before his skin was back against mine.

His mouth found my breast, his tongue circling and teeth grazing gently, drawing a broken moan from my lips as a slow
