Chapter 215
Daphne’s POV
The morning air on the upper deck was usually peaceful, but today it felt thin and hollow.

I was walking back to the suite, the events of the previous night still swirling in my mind like tea leaves at the bottom of a cup, when I slowed my pace near a set of heavy, mahogany doors.
The ship’s interior was quiet at this hour, yet a voice-shrill and biting-pierced the silence.
It was Julie.
I stopped. I knew I should keep walking, but the venom in her tone was impossible to ignore.
She sounded nothing like the fragile, broken woman who had been leaning on David’s arm only hours before.
“I’m sick of waiting!” she hissed, her voice vibrating with a cold, focused anger.
“Daphne, or whatever the hell her name is, was never supposed to be part of this. She shoved herself right between me and David, and I want her gone. You need to add that bitch to the list of people you’re taking out.”
My heart slammed against my ribs, a heavy, painful thud that stole my breath.
I pressed my back harder against the wall, one hand flying up to cover my mouth, desperate to stifle the gasp that nearly escaped.
‘Stay focused, Julie,” a man’s voice replied. “This isn’t why we brought you into the fold. We didn’t employ you to fall in love with one of the target. You were a distraction, nothing more.”
A distraction?” Julie laughed, a sound that lacked any warmth.
I’ve put my all into David. If you don’t abide by what I want, I’ll walk straight into the main lounge and tell David and the entire Tyrone family exactly what you and Lauren Walters have been planning.”
Another voice joined in-a woman’s, smooth and chillingly calm. I assumed it was Lauren.
Julie, pull yourself together. Once we finish off Aaron and Jessica, we can focus on your petty grievances. But for now, we ocus on the goal. We finish them, and then you get to do whatever with your love for him.”
My blood turned to ice in my veins.
They weren’t discussing some small disagreement or a petty business move. They were planning to kill Aaron and Jessica-
both of them.
My legs began feeling heavy, and as I tried to shift my weight to back away, my elbow caught a heavy porcelain vase on a
Dedestal.
It didn’t shatter, but it wobbled and hit the marble floor with a dull, echoing clack.
Someone’s out there,” Eric’s voice barked.
Panic, raw and unfiltered, surged through me. I looked around, my eyes darting across the hallway.
There was a narrow, recessed corner hidden behind a massive decorative tapestry a few yards down.

I sprinted toward it, my feet silent on the plush carpet, and tucked myself into the shadows just as the mahogany door swung open.
I held my breath, my chest tight, watching through a silver of space as the three of them stepped into the hall.
Lauren Walters looked exactly as I had pictured her-sharp features, perfectly tailored clothes, and an air of cold confidence that made my stomach twist.
But the biggest question burned in my mind: who was she, really, and why did she want Aaron and Jessica dead?
Julie stood beside her, her face twisted in a scowl, and Eric scanned the hallway with a predatory gaze.
“Nobody here,” Eric muttered after a tense moment. “Must have been the ship shifting.”
“Doesn’t mean we should be careless,” Lauren muttered. “Let’s get back in.”
They stepped back inside, and I heard the heavy thud of the deadbolt clicking into place. They were locking themselves in to finish their plot.
I didn’t wait. I turned and dashed down the hallway, my mind screaming one name: David.
I burst into our suite, gasping for air, but the rooms were empty. The bed was made, the scent of his cologne lingered, but he was gone.
I spun on my heel and ran back out, my brain working overtime to remember the way to Aaron and Jessica’s suite.
I navigated the labyrinth of corridors until I reached their villa. I didn’t knock; I pushed the door open, my eyes wide.
The only person in the main room was little Adrian, sitting on the rug and playing with a set of wooden blocks.
He looked up, his face brightening into a sweet, innocent smile.
“Daphne!” he chirped, waving a block at me.
I forced a smile, though my hands were shaking so hard I had to hide them in the folds of my dress.
“Hi, buddy. Where are your parents?”
“Mommy went to get me the crunchy crackers,” he said, focusing back on his tower.
“And I haven’t seen Daddy since the sun came up.”
“Thank you, buddy,” I said, offering Adrian a quick smile as I turned to leave.
But a fresh wave of dread washed over me before I could take another step. He was completely alone in here.
Even with the ship’s security team making regular rounds, the conversation I had just overheard made the whole suite feel exposed and unsafe.
Lauren and Eric’s words kept echoing in my head, the cold way they had talked about finishing Aaron and Jessica
I couldn’t bring myself to walk away and leave a little boy sitting there all alone. Worse, he was their son.
The thought of someone using Adrian to get to Aaron and Jessica made my stomach twist with fear.
